05 zx6r front caliper help

I just got an 05 zx6r, and I cant get the cert because the front wheel won't spin freely. It's the front left caliper (spins free when it's off), so I took it right apart and cleaned the pistons and caliper side. The only thing I didnt do is replace the rings. Could the rings be holding the pistons from pushing back far enough or is it probably bigger than that? If I can have it done in a week, I don't pay the $90 cert charge again.. which could be better spent ellsewhere.

Thanks for any help!

I have a set of almost new(used for 1 race) 2011 ZX-14 black nissin front calipers for sale...direct bolt on and huge braking improvement

PM me

if the left caliper is sticking....what did you do to it? what steps did you take in dissembling it?

Sounds like the pistons are seized against the seals. You can try dismounting the calipers, remove the pads and use brake cleaner around the pistons. It's also normal to have slight pad drag on a disc brake.

OP: What level did you get your caliper down to?

This level?!?

frekeyguy... yes lol. I did one piston at a time, but every one left it's port to be cleaned. I believe they are sticking against the seals (seals look worn) so I am going to order them and see what happens! in the meantime, i got a used caliper for 30 bucks and was able to get the safety with that one. was cheaper than waiting to pay for another cert, since i was still in the time limit for re-check. Thanks to everyone!
