CEMO-801, Is anybody going to be attending this weekend's Riders Course At Centennial?, Glad to know who i will be riding with this weekend!

Not at Centennial but will be at the RTI North York course :)

class was excellent, learned alot being new to riding a motorcycle, instructors were great, the head instructor didnt come with us into the parking lot until the test, people in the class were helpful, friendly and fun to be around. there were 32 people in my class, and here's the kicker, 25 people failed, they marked hard i have to say, I yes did pass the course, but barely. the bikes were mostly 08 Cbr 125's, were in good condition, I would recommend the course to anybody wanting to learn how to ride/or freshen up on their skills.

Was it raining? I remember being shocked some 80-90% of the class failed when I first took the course 6,7 years ago, but it was pouring rain and freezing!

Quasi thread-jacking: My gf will be at the RTI M1X Women's course May 12-13th.

The failure rate was only either 11 or 12 out of the 32. Weather was a factor in that rate and not the testing instructors being hard markers. The test is the test, you either do it in a defined time and stay within the lines or you don't and accumulate points. Accumulate too many points and the test is over rather quickly.

jeebus now that's kind of intimidating... although I guess the weather would've been a big factor
I'm scheduled to do the course at centennial April 26-28...

...there were 32 people in my class, and here's the kicker, 25 people failed...

That's not very reassuring, I'm taking the class this weekend and the weather's pretty crappy. :( I wasn't nervous until now!!

I will not be in that class.

from what i remember when i took it there a few years ago the drills they make you do are harder than the test itself. keep in mind though that there is a time limit for each section. some people failed because they were too slow.

Don't forget, you are riding a potentially dangerous machine with no protection around you unlike a car. No airbags, no safety crumple zones.

If they didn't fail people for not meeting the Canada Safety Standards requirements, it could potentially put people out on the road, totally unprepared for hazards and dangers around them.

The course is designed to simulate riding a motorcycle safely and in control.

Not everyone gets it first time. This should not be seen as a failure, instead it should be used as a learning tool to build upon previous success.

Don't let it put you off. Motorcycling is a skill to be learned and enjoyed.
