03 GSXR 600 Hesitation

Tried searching and didn't find anything matching here, and on other forums everyone is talking about PCIII which I don't have...

Here's the issue; bike normally runs fine, but under hard acceleration, I've recently noticed that around 8000 rpm (80%-100% throttle in any gear (haven't tried in first though)) up to about 11,000 rpm the bike seems to bog down. It still accelerates, but there is a very marked lack of power. At around 11,000 rpm it kicks back to what seems like full power and actually jolted me backward on the bike a bit and the bike took off. I noticed it about a week ago on the highway. I was in 6th and went to accelerate at wot and realized it wasn't as powerful as I figured it would be. I kicked it down to 5th and tried again, same and the same in 4th. I usually ride fairly easy, but when I want the power, it doesn't seem to be there. This wasn't happening before.

Any ideas?

Thanks

How many kms on the bike? Sounds to me like a fuel or spark issue.....is it throwing any fault codes?

my bet is spark.....

might be fuel pump....sounds like when there is a load on the motor (ie. will need more fuel + spark) it cuts out.

could be either or....that's my diag.

Lots of KM on the bike, 90,000+ but the motor is newly used. The thing to me that is odd is that around 11,000 rpm the power picks up again. There are no codes, no warning indicators on.

Frekey, I'll be giving you a call if it's beyond my basic capabilities. Can you PM me your number?

How many kms on the motor? Who did the motor swap?

What was swapped over? Was the motor a complete unit? with matching throttle bodies / injectors etc? History on the Motor? What was it used for?

Has the issue always accompanied this motor?

PM'd.

I was told there were only 1,500 kms on the motor when it was put in. The swap was done by Dukes of Cycle.
Aside from the motor, I'm unsure what else was swapped with it. I don't know if the original TB's were used or any other info.
I don't think that I've always had this issue since the motor was put in. I only noticed it recently.

I had the bike dynoed in March (I think... Maybe April) and it put out 104 hp with no flat spot. Pretty steady line.

1500kms..! from a 03....you must have paid a premium for the motor...Also...I think if it was losing power...it should've shown up on the dyno pull....no?

That's the same thing I was thinking and since it didn't seem to show up, I think this is a new problem that's presented itself...

that gen GSXR didn't have any complicated electronics that went bad...the next gen had issues. I would love to see why its doing this.

Sounds like a fault code symptom... but since the fI light isn't on, my bet is a kinked fuel line. Have you been doing work on it lately?? Any chance you mighta messed with something by mistake?

frekeyguy nailed it. Diagnosed it then lifted up the tank and he found the loose ignition coil! Nice job, man! Now, to find a coil... LOL

the FI bikes use a pretty beefy fuel line...those are pretty hard to kink.....
