Motorcycle mistakes you only make once... and ones you make all the time...

Hopefully this mistake will only happen once - On my first bike with traction control. I was parked on some loose gravel, hopped on the bike and twisted the throttle expecting to move. Traction control kicked in and cut off the power unexpectedly causing me to drop the bike. Ones that happens...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

FYI. Jackson's point is also a good spot for some epic sunrises.

At what age did you start riding?

I got my M2 in my late 20s, got married, had a kid and put off getting a bike and let my M2 expire without ever buying a bike. 9 years ago while cleaning out the basement, I came across the motorcycle boots I had bought for my safety course. Brand new condition of course. My first thought was to...

Oh, thanks for the heads up. I definately won't be doing any of this. I won't even click on your link but thanks anyways.

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

I'm going to need more details. What's that bike and where exactly did you take it? Sounds like my kind of adventure.

    Art...

As much as I'd love to have some large original paintings, I can't justify spending so much on them. I've come across many awesome pieces in art/craft shows but never did pulled the trigger. Like others here, I mostly have landscape photos from family trips on my walls. I used to...

    Iron Butt routes

I finished in 19 hours (4am to 11pm) but that included a 1hr break near the end of the run. Don't get me wrong, I was also wearing thin by the end but when I think back, it was still a good time.

    Bluetooth, where to start!

I experienced the same thing. My issue was the speakers were too far from my ears. My Sena kit came with extra foam spacers which were too thick so I ended up stacking layers of leather for spacers to get the perfect fit.

    Iron Butt routes

This was my route. I did it in July and planned it so that I was on the 400 series highways before sunrise and after sunset. I kept a small sheet of paper with all my stops and the ETA so that I know if I'm ahead or falling behind. I felt like 24hrs is more than enough time. I took quick 5 min...

    Northern Lights Tonight

Should be visible tonight but won't be as strong as yesterday. I wasn't able to stay up because of work but I setup my insta360 to record a timelapse from 8pm to 5am in my backyard. Was very faint to the naked eye but this is what the camera picked up. Hope to capture some photos with the bike...

    McGyver'in some side racks

Perhaps you can use these clamps to connect the side case frames to your topcase frame. You might be able to use them to connect a cross bar between the two side frames. Link to clamps

    Another run to PA

Great pics. I'd imagine the fall colours down there would be spectacular in a few weeks.

Two nights camping in Pennsylvania at Ole Bull State Park

My mom asked me how is it even fun to go alone. My response to her was I can't think of the last time I was able to sleep/wake up whenever I wanted, eat whatever/whenever, go wherever I wanted without worrying about getting there at a certain time. From the moment I left the house, it was a...

Two nights camping in Pennsylvania at Ole Bull State Park

The campground was nice. Washrooms were always clean. The sites are a bit close to each other so there's not much privacy. It was probably at about 50% capacity on Friday. I made reservations because I wanted to make sure I had trees for my hammock and wanted to be close to the creek but I'm...

Two nights camping in Pennsylvania at Ole Bull State Park

Thanks everyone! @Evoex - All the roads were paved except for one section approx 10km of gravel between Route 44 and Route 414 @Sunday Rider - I'm not sure how well the plywood will hold up long term. I'm pretty sure one good rain fall will ruin it. Plus I need the passenger seat as my kid...

Two nights camping in Pennsylvania at Ole Bull State Park

I took GTAM's advice and went down to Pennsylvania on between Sept 12 and Sept 14 for a camping/riding trip. I booked a campsite at the Ole Bull State Park in the Susquehannock State Forest. I hit the road at 6:30 am and took a direct highway route until Niagara where I rode the Niagara River...

    McGyver'in some side racks

Diamond plate sounds fancy! Don't forget to post pics when you're done. I have some scrap 1/2" ply if you need.

    McGyver'in some side racks

I agree with @oioioi. Use some sheet metal as an adapter plate, mount it to your existing racks with pipe clamps and then mount the kit to the plate. Or use plywood if you want to stick to the theme!
