My buddy got some plates from the states and puts them on his car when he parks in Toronto. He just started doing it this week. Today some construction guys on the street told him a cop was checking out his car and took down his VIN. Any idea what's coming to him?

I am well aware that radar detectors are illegal to even carry in Ontario. I still want to get one for my US trips. I am not to worried about police searching me for one, but I am worried about CBSA. Will CBSA agents confiscate a radar detector? This outlines it pretty well...
