Keep it shiny, that's the only thing i do. I rode to guelph using only highway 7; fun, plenty of power and it sure beats the damn 401 only going in straights.

Ninja 500r is pretty much identical throughout the second gen (94-'09) Just different colours iirc. 500r kept the insurance low for me while i was quoted 2000+ for a 650.

The Ninja 500r have a nice platform and there's plenty of comparison between the Ninja 500r and the Gs500. Even though the ninja 500r is discontinued. If you want to tour with it, you might want to change the windscreen because it is relatively low to block any wind if you're not tucked in.

I'm just wondering what helmet brand do you use if your wear glasses like me? I have a Joe Rocket RTK-1000 but i want to try new brands. Hoping that your input can help narrowing it down or maybe help future questions about it. I tried Bell Vortex but that didn't fit; arrow in the other hand did.
