Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I want to like the ELR so much, I've sat in one at a dealer and it looks and feels really nice, but even if I could pick up a used one really cheap I think I'd always hate driving it since it would be slower than my Bolt.

The regen on the Bolt kicks in hard if you just take your foot off the pedal, but it's really easy and controllable to modulate so unless you're really ham-fisted or inattentive I find it's very smooth.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Yeah, until I have the occasion to drive in snow extensively I won't really know. The comments were from people who got Bolts at the beginning of 2017 and they were comparing to their previous cars.

The Bolt has a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel to increase it. In L mode (one pedal driving) it has pretty strong braking as it is, but you can add to it. I almost never have to use the regular brakes. Tons of torque, so it can break loose pretty easily, but the pedal is...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

So far I've noticed that it doesn't tend push really hot air unless you hit the full defrost button. Strangely it does tend to start pushing hot air when you push the accelerator harder, just like an ICE vehicle. One of the things I have seen other Bolt owners mention is that they tend to pack...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I pre-condition the Bolt while it's still connected to the EVSE so I don't see too much drain, and I park in a heated parking garage at work. Pretty much the best case scenario for EV usage. I don't track things in detail but I did notice the battery was drained a little more this morning than...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

That's true. In our case, we use the truck for truck stuff often enough to justify it over something smaller, and it's a small-ish truck anyway. The CTS-V was a pure toy until we moved out of the city, then it became the wrong choice for us so hence the Bolt.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

No, the truck (Chevy Colorado) was our more efficient vehicle so I used it since my commute was longer. Our other car was a 2006 CTS-V, so less efficient and needed premium fuel. Still have the truck.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Had the Bolt for about a week now and couldn't be happier. I can charge at work all day (L1/12amps) and that gets me back about half of my daily commute. L2 charging at home takes a little less than 3 hours. Total electricity cost is about $1.20/day vs. $18.50/day in gas for my truck. Having...

Polestar 1 is definitely a testbed, not just for the vehicle designs and tech, but for the subscription model. I think that is really what they are looking at.

Not too likely, most buyers of high end cars that I know think Tesla's tech is cool but the cars are bland and the interiors suck. Tesla has a very long way to go before they appeal to the average luxury car buyer and not just the people who are enamored with Elon or are in it for the tech. As...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

This is what is really driving it for me. My commute is 140km daily, with a ton of stop and go. I really need a new job... As much as I like getting my hands dirty working on cars and bikes, I'm really looking forward to the Bolt for the near total lack of maintenance, tire rotations, tire...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

The math works out differently for everybody. For us, we will be saving over $500/mth in gas with the Bolt. The CTS-V we just sold was a double whammy being both inefficient and requiring premium fuel. Add on the ongoing maintenance costs of a 12 yr old car and the case for the Bolt got even...

Bolt is out - 300+ range

The battery on the Bolt is apparently more like 65kwh, not 60, to allow for degradation. GM has also been extremely cautious in how they set up the software and battery management, to the point that there are Volt's with 300,000 Miles and no discernible degradation. Naturally there is battery...

No, the BMW i3, Hyundai Ionic, and others work this way as well. These are plug-in hybrids as opposed to traditional hybrids.

The dealer I am going through and my salesperson are actually knowledgeable. They have sold a lot of Volts and the sales staff are educated on EV's. That has not been an issue at all.
