    Removing spark plugs

Sabex, Usually when a bike is too lean, it bucks and sputters, and coughs, and doesn't run smoothly. When it runs rich it's smooth as glass but just doesn't make its maximum power. So what makes you think it is lean again?

    My 2004 CBR 1000RR STOLEN

Brother Kingsha, I feel for you man - but these things are going to happen. I hope you get your bike back but you must steel yourself to the thought that you might never see it again. All the little details, the personal things that you did plus accessories etc... gone. But you know, that's how...

Does anyone buy Extended Warranty for new bikes? Did you ever need it?

The thing with this is, well it's two things really. Number one is: Anything that makes you sleep better, is a good thing. I'm serious, LoL (and it is a recurring theme in life). This sort of thing is very precious like the elusive Ma$tercard "things that money can't buy". Well guess what - you...

    Icon Stryker Vest?

Stryker is a nice thing, even though it's not much more than a back protector. Don't forget it's part of a system, with matching elbow and knee protectors available. Those three parts, combined with some serious gloves plus footwear that covers your ankle points (like even high-top running...

    Batteries

For years bikes had good big robust batteries and charging systems. There was a brief mini-crisis in the late 1970's, after Canada changed to kilometers, when headlamp on/off switches first disappeared from handlebars. Seems some designs weren't up to running lights 24/7... Since then...

    Which tires?

Recommend Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact. All the grip in the twisties you're likely to need... Or (for more 'trackday' but less mileage) Sportec M5 Interact. As mentioned, tires that warm up quickly and work well in the cold and wet, are important to Canadian street riders. The Z8 excell at this...

widest rear tire for a 07 yamaha vstar 650 custom..

The bike comes with 170/80-15 rear. This provides a diameter of approx. 670mm. - very similar to 120/90-18 rear! I am of course not suggesting you convert to this size; just saying. Apart from tire width, there are other considerations: ride height (the height of your seat above the pavement)...

    04 zx10 shifting issue?

Hey you don't need a new tranny - just a new second gear. (Maybe a first gear too.) Again, brand-new parts are not too-too much. Coupla hours labour though... maybe four, heheh, at ~$90 per. Again, these gears spin on a common shaft and they engage side-to-side, so no other part of your tranny...

    Gremlins

Battery terminal screws? Yes. Important safety tip... Also (on older bikes) the ground is often rotten; make sure you have a good ground if your bike sometimes behaves 'haunted'.

Lower top speed in hot weather??

That's ten-tenths; in other words wide open throttle. Your bike gets on the main jets only at WFO. (Even at 90% throttle it's still mostly on the needles.)

    idel to 5000rpm ignition problem

Sounds like what used to happen when bikes had centrifugal spark-advance. As engine RPM increased, the spark-advance plate would spin faster and centrifugal force would cause little weights to throw out (overcoming the springs which held them at low RPM). This advanced the spark at high RPM. If...

Lower top speed in hot weather??

Basically cold air contains more oxygen than hot air. This will cause a perfectly jetted bike to run a bit rich when it's hot out. Ninja 250's run very lean at idle/low RPM and are miserable in cold weather! But WFO jetting seems not so lean. Therefore a stock Ninja 250, in very hot weather...

    04 zx10 shifting issue?

Pretty easy diagnosis (classic symptoms). The second gear dogs are rounded off. This occurs after repeated first > second shifts at redline. Caused by second gear not fully engaging due to rushed/hurried shift and imperfect technique. Racing bikes will have the gear dogs 'undercut' so that when...

Looking for someone with an 08 or 10 Passion Red Ninja 250

When I was working at the Kawi shop, I put a Passion Red solo seat cowl on a Sunbeam Red Ninja 250 (or vice versa, can't remember) just to see if anyone could notice. Nobody did. If you knew and you looked very closely, you could tell. But those red colours are really very similar...

How Long Did It Take You To Learn How To Ride A Motorycle?

I used to drive all around the old neighborhood (Glen Agar) at night, on a 1972 Norton 850 Commando. Shifting with the right foot; braking with the left. I think I was 15... I could drive manual-transmission cars too. Hey a motorhead's a motorhead, what can I say? I just always knew. Never took...

Anyone ridden to Florida and back?

Two days? LoL, heheh... good luck. It's 1500 KM to Atlanta (almost 1000 miles) one-way. And Atlanta is 1/2 way from Toronto to Miami apparently (!) I dunno, I've been only maybe 100 KM south of Atlanta. But I did the Atlanta run twice - once on a CB900F and again on a CX500T (Turbo). Both very...

Lugging the motor is very bad (especially new bikes, first 1000 kilometres).

    Handle Bars

Guys, every bike shop in Canada has a Motovan catalogue (and Parts Canada, Kimpex, and Thibault catalogues). Motovan has ~10 pages of handlebars. Big, little, high, flat - you name it, it's in there. Simply go in to any shop and ask to see their Motovan catalogue. You can even look through it...

Dude, you've got only one head and there's no dress rehearsal for this stuff, you know what I'm saying? Do yourself a favour and just buy a nice Shoei or something...
