This is how I learned. Ride in busy, sucky, congested areas with lots of action on the road. This forces you to get better for the sake of your own comfort. Otherwise it's one jerky crap shoot in the heat.

Just make sure you stay hydrated. I wore a thick alpinestars leather jacket in 35 degree weather 2 years ago when I did the course and sweat like a pig. Nothing happened to me because I drank litres of water.
