A gap of insurance can only be a problem qualifying for certain discounts with some companies. Some insurers require the insured to be continuously insured for "X" number of years to qualify for the discount.

Carlos is correct. It is a great idea to increase your liability limit from 1 million to 2 million. The difference in price is usually minimal. 1 million can be used up very quickly these days if you are being sued.
