I have emailed Chris a few times with regards to this. I will email again.
My idea is to simply switch back to the LightWeight Sportsman Class vs Lwt production.
300 Production and lwt procduction have a ton of 250 and 300 racers out in both classes so there is ALREADY a class for 250s.
27 years old
Grew up on dirt bikes. Dad bought me a PW50 at age 4.
Started road racing in 2002 ( 14 years old)
Road a borrowed RS125 (Mark White lent it to me) and I was setting mid pack times right off the bat. Turns out at 14 you have no fear.
That Christmas I got a 1995 RS125 and...
#498 Bandit 400
RACE- LWT Production, LWT Superbike....bring it on Joey!
VRRA P4 F3 ad F2.
Luc is coming back next year as well. #730
RACE- LWT Production
And finally old pops is getting back out on a racebike. (1986 GS550EFE) #334
RACE- LWT Production
VRRA P4F3
"The road bike was lighter than the race machine, but Yamaha detuned for safety reasons. "
Yeah no.
The YZR500 weighed 130Kgs....the RZ500 weighed 205kgs....
Great little bikes.
Canadian Superbike Champ Jordan Szoke got his racing start on one of these in the 125GP class (250 four stroke twins were allowed) and it was a great little bike. The motors are a pain to work on, but its a honda so youll never have to anyways.
Correction.
Steering damper...not required at all.
Tires...Junk the OEM ones. (Alpha IIs are nice)
Suspension- Hyper Pro fronts, and a Hyperpro rear (850$ CND for the set)
Leave the pipe, leave the motor alone, leave the ECU alone. Learn to ride it stock as is.
You DONT NEED MORE POWER...
Considering I am the only person to ride a 400/4 and my teammate rides a 500 twin Liquid cooled...
I talked to Chris, and many of the riders via FB or personal email in the off season before the 2016 race season and it was agreed to change the rule book for 2017 for LWT Production.
LIGHTWEIGHT...
Generally in Green group there is a "pace setter" or there should be. A local pro or Red group volunteer to set a moderate pace and guides Greenies around on the proper lines.
I can't say for sure. SOAR has a LOT of 600s and Superbikes but from what I have heard, their little bike classes are lacking
You will find a lot of VRRA stuff though, FZR400s, RZ350s, EX500s, Etc..
