Best part of the show was meeting a bloke named Ed March from Devon, England. He and his GF are riding from Alaska to Argentina on Honda C70s. They've redefined lo-tech bike touring, the anti-BMW tourers. Great inspiration.
You can make your money back and more by flipping the Honda. The ownership alone is worth several hundred bucks. Reasonably priced ones don't last long on Kijiji while bodgy, overpriced "customs" languish for weeks.
Parts made in China, bikes assembled in India. It will happen. If my Honda burns rice, your Harley will burn curry. Even the new Triumph Bonneville models are all built in Malaysia.
You can easily get another couple of seasons, even more. Getting your valves checked doesn't necessarily mean they need adjustment, the clearances could still be within spec.
