In fact, it is not Woolich with whom I dealt; it is with a local tuner that use Woolich software/hardware. I already e-mailed Woolich (in Australia) and they confirmed that they do not have yet the bin file of my ECU 21175-1219. They indeed need such an ECU to be sent to them in order for them...
My opinion also regarding a possible warranty.
I agree. I would add a third option which would be to find a 21175-1219 ECU and send it to Woolich to read the map. Then, Woolich would be able to solve my problem at the root.
However, finding this 1219 ECU is not easy and I understand why riders...
Well, he did not said it is impossible to do; he said that it can be done by specialists but that a Kawasaki dealer can't. The link you provided is not OEM Kawasaki.
I hardly see myself calling him a liar...
Just back from the closest Kawasaki dealer and there's nothing he can do. He said only motocrossers and some hypersport models have changeable ECU "sticks" with some pre-programmed maps.
Already made this on TWO Versys 1000 forums. But this bike is not a huge seller and there are not much members on both forums.
However, instead of asking to borrow an ECU, maybe asking for the map/programming would work, assuming someone there do have it. I'll edit my request on both forums.
One more thought:
The purge valve looks indeed to be a relay with a 30~34 ohms rating. So, to simulate this missing valve, what do you think I wire in a standard relay, assuming I can find one with the same 30~34 ohms value?
At the worst, I could simply buy the OEM purge valve and wire it in as...
Do you mean that it would be useless to wire in a resistor? Just bringing 12V power to the ECU pin would be sufficient?
If so, I'm wondering why the purge valve would have 30~34 ohms specs...
I know; more than $1500...
It's why I'm reluctant to try this...
From my wiring harness diagram, the other wire connects to a wire that links another ECU's pin, the relay box and a part called "air switching valve".
I could e-mail you the wiring harness if interested to look by yourself.
The CA wiring probably have the purge valge wires. My only hope is that my ECU do gave the purge valve pin. If this pin is missing from my ECU, it will be a show stopper for that option...
Thanks for your input!
Brian, I made the procedure to retrieve the code.
However, I did it as per the repair manual pages 131 (last line) and 132 (first two lines) (links below) and it is 3A. According to page 136 (link below), the code is for:
"Purge valve malfunction, wiring open, or short to ground or power supply...
Sorry, I did not see it the way you are now explaining it and it maybe make some sense.
I do have a wiring diagram (that I completely remade in colors...). I can see a "purge valve" that is written to be on "Equipped models". This valve do have two wires but I totally ignore what it does...
