    Some Service Ontario locations closing

The SO in Orangeville, (NOT the DriveTest), is well run and you can book appointments. I've used it a few times in the past couple of years and with an appointment you're in and out in minutes. The Service Canada on the other hand has line-ups outside on the street all day, every day.

Jan motorcycle show, plan on going?

At that price...NO! I feel that the admission price should be no more than $10 or $15 to wander around what is essentially an indoor flea market. Even with the seniors rate is still too expensive because the discount coupon cannot be applied. Prior to the pandemic I would go to this show every...

    Motorcycle Dolly

A 2x6 would be too thick to allow me to get the centre stand up onto it. My bike weighs 297 kg dry, so I'm not lifting that beast too high. It's all I can do to just tip the thing over far enough to roll the dolly under the centre stand. I tip it towards me first because the part of the stand...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Actually as I recall in the news story, the roads were clear and dry on both occasions. I think the first one resulted from a fail to stop at the stop sign. The other as you noted probably speed related, or unsafe pass.

    Motorcycle Dolly

I have a pair of cabinet corner dollies I bought from Princess Auto probably 15 years ago. I searched their site and it appears they don't carry them anymore. The ones I found online at other retailers are over $100 for a pair and I'm positive I didn't pay that much. Anyway, what I do is put...

That's the only issue along there. It get really bad the closer to Dixie you get. I don't have a need to be down that way very much anymore and certainly don't miss the mayhem on the 401 or 410.

Shhh, don't tell anyone. That's my lane! No one else uses it and it's the only safe place to be.

I also aced my bike test at the 401 / Keele back in 1973. I took mine on a 100cc Kawasaki enduro, so it was very easy:D. A few months later I bought a BSA 650 Lighting.

This has been going on for decades, nothing new here move along. The report says 42% of road tests in Orangeville are by Brampton drivers. I would have thought it was higher by the number of Brampton Driving School vehicles I see around town. We've lived in Orangeville for over 30 years. When...

    Who's still riding? Fall & Winter 2022 (& 2023!) edition!

Looks like a whole lot of fun, but don't let that video get into the hands of your local law establishment because that's clearly HTA 172 territory!

Private members bill to ban passing across double line

Yes, currently pavement markings alone in Ontario are insufficient to mark a "No Passing" zone. To make passing illegal they must be accompanied by a proper black on white overhead sign.

    Who's still riding? Fall & Winter 2022 (& 2023!) edition!

Yesterday was just too nice to not go for a ride! What a beautiful day for November 16th. I think we had snow on the ground last year at this time. I took a little 104km loop to the north and found myself at Terra Nova. That might have been my final ride of the season, we'll see.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Yes, at Hockley all returning operators go through a refresher on the operation of all lifts and practice manual evacuation of the chairlift. This is necessary because it is the lift operators responsibility to manually evacuate guests from a disabled chairlift. I believe it's a TSSA...

    Who's still riding? Fall & Winter 2022 (& 2023!) edition!

That route includes some of my favourite roads. If you've never ridden River Road you will like it. Just be aware that the speed limits have been reduced to 60 and 50 kph along most of it and during the summer months it is heavily patrolled on the weekends. My favourite route is below. I go...

    Who's still riding? Fall & Winter 2022 (& 2023!) edition!

Sorry, I used the wrong name for the game, it's actually the "A to Z" game, but there's also a Tag game where you take photos of landmarks with the bike in the shot, which I think GTA also does. With the Tag game you need to post a photo of the old location and a new location to move the Tag...

    Who's still riding? Fall & Winter 2022 (& 2023!) edition!

I've rarely see another red ST1100 while out riding, likely because it's over 20 years old. It was great to ride together along Hockley Road and CR 1 over to Tottenham Road. BTW, I picked up the N, O and P for the Tag Game over on that other Forum. Here's my route and a photo at the N that I...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I put the ST to bed for the season yesterday after a nice 132km ride. It was a tad cool, but not too bad. I am hoping for maybe another ride before the end of the month, but not holding my breath. In just over a week from now I have our recertification for returning lift operators and most of...

    Red Light ticket ouch!

I never clean my plate on my car in winter. When I clean the snow off the hood, roof, windows, mirrors and lights, I somehow forget to give the plate a wipe. As a result the rear plate is usually covered in a mixture of snow and slush that builds up quickly on these hatchback CUV's. Sorry...
