I bought my kids dirt bikes hoping they would one day want to ride street. They like dirt biking but very carefully - not a risky bone in their bodies. They have no interest in riding street. I wonder if there was a mixup at the hospital.
@Mad Mike - any special recommendations for 12V pumps?
I studied current pump and don't see any markings for it besides "Mikuni". I know they're all pretty much the same.
Tank is under seat. I installed a new filter from the JD dealer right before doing this work. Had another new OEM...
Received my Thunderbox this week. I bought the big one, just because I got tired of thinking about the likelihood of adding devices X, Y and Z.
This thing is TINY.
I know I could have done the equivalent for less, but this was a case of me picking something that was eezy-peezy. Whatever I...
Ah I see. I was focusing on the pump not being able to draw fuel from the line.
I was thinking of doing something similar, spraying starter fluid into the throat and seeing if increased RPM produced enough pressure to get the pump to work.
But if the starter isn't enough to provide adequate...
That is incredible. How do they keep people the tools from never returning? Is it all based on reputation, trust, or is there a deposit that gets made to secure the tools?
Also got to play with my new Optimate charger. That thing was able to recover 2 batteries I had laying around which my other smart chargers couldn't charge. If I had that a year ago, it would have already paid for itself.
Grr. I meant to check if the cap was venting properly.
Thanks @GreyGhost, very generous of you. I'll keep that in mind!
Yes, Mikuni vacuum operated fuel pump. I opened the pump and the diaphragm looked to be OK. What's the approximate vacuum one would expect to see? Could it be less than 1...
Snapped my right footpeg on my bike when I dropped it doing something stupid the other day, so moved the rear pillion footpeg forward. Darn thing seemed to require removing the brake lever just to gain access. Spent the whole weekend driving around to various places looking for a circlip that...
What's the estimated cost for the Desmo?
I'm considering doing mine in the spring. My biggest constraint is no garage, so the best I can do is working over a drop cloth in our driveway.

I found 3 of these in one of the panniers of a bike I bought. One of them is labelled Nolan N104 EVO; the other two look to be exactly the same in dimension. They still have the clear sticky stuff on it.
I know this is an older helmet, but if anyone is still running of these - let me know.
So I renewed my membership and played with SW, using SWTracker on my iPhone. I was in Barrie doing some errands and am just now looking at my track in BaseCamp.
I have SWTracker set to report back at the shortest possible interval. This means that in BaseCamp, it draws my path as being...
Fair enough. I just cannot imagine having to ride the 401.. even late at night it always seems to be a long, hot mess. I used to sometimes keep my bike in the city and ride to work. That's no fun and now it never sees the city. With a clock on me and the spectre of fatigue? That could be...
Lots of great comments here. Thank you everyone.
Just after renewing my Spotwalla membership, I decided to put this off until next year. Proximal reason is I dropped my bike 500 m from home being stupid after 6h of riding. Foot peg snapped, I think I can swap it with one of the pillion pegs...
Thanks @shanekingsley. You mention avoiding the slab, but you still go through the worst parts of the 401... from Oshawa to Mississauga. Also - did I miss mention of how long your ride took?
Camelbak is something I don't think I would need. After a couple of hours I have to really get off the bike and stretch. That's usually when I hydrate. Although I recognize the whole game changes when you're talking 16h vs 8h.
I think you (edit) CAN(/edit) upload a Spotwalla track to make it easier. To me the hassle is part of the challenge. I know. It sounds weird.
I talked to a guy at the parking lot for some dirt bike trails about it. We both agreed we wanted to do it. His comment was "It's one of those...
That's impressive. How many hours of sleep? When I was younger and would drive, I could go for maybe an hour or two before getting seriously drowsy. I've gotten a little better in cars since then, and I don't seem to have that problem on my bike. But the longest I've ever ridden has been...
