15 years old on a dirt bike. We had a property with maybe a few hundred acres adjoining forest. Self taught. Guy at dealership (Cycle World in Scarborough, I believe) sort of showed us what to do but we didn’t get to try.
Took it home, tried to remember what we had learned and studied the...
I'm on iOS, but was looking for that ability in the Marketplace app or website itself. Having to zoom in at the OS level is jacked - I should be able to tap on the image and pinch to zoom, or use the browser's built in zoom feature, but for whatever reason Facebook borked that ability both...
You must be able to take a closer look at it than I. I have never been able to figure out how to zoom into pictures in Marketplace. If you know how, please share!
I got interested in bikes in the early 80s and would study the bike mags like they were my Bible, so that's still a good price for...
This is a good price for a bike that was a beast in its day, if it's in as good condition as it looks. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it.
1984 Yamaha FJ1100 $1495
This guy deserves credit for the body of the listing:
Goldwing 1500 $1300
56000 miles on it. Brand new battery brand new front tire. Everything runs perfect on this bike. The only flaws is a small rip in the seat cover. Easy fix. This is a 1994 and runs like new. I've had it 4 months bought...
This one is overpriced if you consider you have to buy it from a guy who has no papers or plates but still manages to ride around town in it.
CBR250 2012 Motorcycle $1100
My wife drives a Mazda. Gyro Mazda is around 10 minutes away from our house. EVERY time we bring our car there it's about a MINIMUM of $1000 of X, Y or Z. I have a theory that $1000 is small enough that it's not worth it for most to take it for a second opinion, but enough to make a good...
Looks like we got out of Dodge at just the right time. In the morning one of our neighbours who does a lot of the local plowing told me that Highway 11 was full of plows in ditches. Late in the afternoon the snow stopped falling for a while, I guess they had time to pull the plows out of the...
Ah OK. Aluminum I assume?
Here’s a (low res, sorry) pic of the bike in happier times.
At this point I was just trying to source mirrors and side maintenance panels (PO had fabricated some out of sheet metal and fastened with a motley assortment of wood screws, drywall screws and probably...
the same dummy who drove on his winters for an entire summer - unfortunately, not this past summer. Honestly I meant to do it last week, checked weather forecast and it seemed fine. Didn’t plan to drive my car up north but wife changed plans and took it herself and here we are.
Here’s that...
Looks like the riding is done at the cottage.
This all came down after about 8 pm last night. Our car is stuck in a mud hole our guy never filled. Apparently all the plows in our area are stuck in ditches, and highway 11 full of cars in ditches.
And sadly, our other car is up here with snow...
Bought this: 3M Paint & Rust Stripper.
I think I'm going to try and see what will come off easily, then I'm considering trying electrolysis. I was thinking about POR-15 or Evaporust but I figured it would be expensive to buy enough to fill a large enough container.
Interesting that that bike is also missing a side cover. Those things are like hen's teeth. My bike was complete except for those covers and the mirrors.
I know my bike isn't worth much, less so now. I will never be able to get it to the place I might have once been able to get it to, and...
Enough that doing just about anything on my bikes has never made financial sense. I enjoy tinkering on them, and especially learning about them - and this way I might learn something for not much money.
