I believe Chubb is exclusive -- you have to be a member of a group to get in. They are one of the best rated insurers based on claims satisfaction surveys.
Ironically, premium wise, people who just made an at-fault claim in the last year probably have the least to lose by filing another at-fault claim within a year or two. They would simply go from 1* or 2* record back to 0* and take a couple of years to get back to 2*. On the other hand, someone...
Certainly, the value brought to the client by the insurance company is definitely considered in the price -- better service can demand a higher price, all else equal. Price is just one of many considerations when I'm shopping around.
I guess I wasn't really clear -- insurance companies make money by charging the most *accurate* premiums relative to expected future claims. You can certainly make money on a sub-par risk as long as it's priced appropriately. If a group is likely to claim $2000 on average over the next year...
Yes, it will be interesting to see how driving characteristics translates to claims. It could very well be the case that people who speed by about 20% are the best risks out there. I actually wouldn't be surprised if that is the result. Without seeing any data, my initial guess is that risk...
To be clear, this is indeed a method to make an insurance company more profits, but not by means of taking in more premium. If we collected $1B in premiums for our in-force clients before the devices, we will continue to collect $1B in premium for in-force clients after the devices. The...
If there are two licensed operators in the household, you can't say that you are the only licensed operator. That would be lying. Pretty simple stuff. I wouldn't worry about your rate -- it probably won't be impacted whether you had one or two operators in the household anyway (especially...
I'll have the chance to test out one of these devices for my employer soon. I've already seen the web interface that would be available to the client and it's actually really cool, and I'm pretty excited about it.
To the nay sayers, the goal of the devices is to attract the best drivers with...
I love how you can see the ropes and the trolley the horse is being pulled on. Is this some sort of Bollywood comdey similar to the Charlie Sheen movies of the 90's?
I think you have up to a year to claim. Maybe try sending a PM to Platinum_Cycle (a claims adjuster) if you want a definitive answer. I hope your wife gets better!
Wow, that's a fantastic rate! It almost seems too good to be true . . . I hope they didn't mess up :S Something seems really off about the Personal quotes people are getting, but for your sake I hope they're correct.
$1280 seems exceptionally high on that bike under the old Jevco rates -- I would have expected you to be closer to $750 on a basic policy with the old Jevco rates from 2012. Were there any surcharges stated on the old Jevco policy?
Yes, I work in insurance, but if Allstate started writing sport motorcycles it must be a somewhat recent change in the last year or two that I wasn't aware of (or they are making some underwriting exceptions for a few people).
State Farm didn't increase his rate -- the OP removed the car and house so he lots the discounts. Allstate has no interest in sport bikes. Your only options for a GSXR are State Farm and TD. I believe the TD rate drops when you hit 30yo. Good luck!
Technically, since it is no-fault insurance in Ontario, the other guy's insurance company will pay for the damage to his car even though he wasn't at fault. This has no bearing on the assignment of fault and future premium changes though -- the not-at-fault operator will see no premium increase.
