Congrats on the new bike. Heed the advice, but buy what it is you really want. Otherwise you will regret it picking the wrong bike to save a couple hundred dollars. The Ninja 300 is a great bike that you can ride for a long time.

I personally would prefer a 250 lb 250cc engine over a 300 lb 300cc(actually 286cc) engine. I am not a big fan of KTM, but I might not have a choice other than Husqvarna and Beta. The CRF250L suspension and extra weight is what stopped me from buying it. Of course, it all depends on the person...

Dirt bikers usually ride somewhere in Simcoe Forest or Ganaraska Forest, so it shouldn't matter where they live. Unless you meant dual sport dirt riders who ride their bikes to the trails instead of using a trailer?

I agree with this and quickly took off the wraparound guards on my wife's bike. I still have it one mine, but that is only because I crash enough that I have perfected ejecting myself off the bike most of the time.

Congratulatuons! The 500 Honda bikes are all great bikes. If you feel confident in your ability to ride, there is nothing stopping you from taking the trip now. I rode 2 up to Cabot Trail after having my license for 5 months.

I had insurance for the Ninja 300 and CB500X at the same time and it was the same, so I don't think I was incorrect in my statement. The CBR500R "might" be the same.
