    June 7th TMP, Roll call

They may have noticed but didn’t think it would be an issue. Under normal circumstances coolant (water) would simply dry away. Glycol of course, doesn’t just dry up. It takes a cleanup to fix the problem. From what we see here TMP isn’t prepared for a glycol cleanup, and really, why should...

What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2014

Quite the change; No duct tape, no wire tie stitching? And, no pink . . . no more deflated egos being passed by a girl!! Fingers crossed weather-wise for the 9th.

In his case, it's a Ducati; pure superconducting unobtainium, no worries.

    Isle of Man TT

The "Race Course" is public roads. The whole TT event occurs over two weeks. Practices are generally late afternoons & evening every other day. The rest of the time the roads are open for public use. Oh, and the Isle of Man has no national speed limits, so, most of the course is unlimited...

Straight Weight Oil - where to buy

Do you have a special need for straight 50 weight? For general engine use, we don't have the climate to support 50 weight. A good multi-viscosity is a better choice. I've seen straight 50 weight at heavy truck service centres, you could try there. I've also seen it used in heavy stationary...

    Engineering Question

It may not be as simple as that. The force at the new shock mount location will be higher; 20/17 vs 20/15 (~ 13%). However, the geometery of the shock to swingarm will have also changed. The shock may be more straight up and down compared to before. This will increase the capacity of the...

    New Mosport DDT track video

I went as a spectator to the Rider's Choice day today. It looked pretty bleak when I got up this morning, so I didn't take my bike . . . turns out, I should have, it became a nice day after all. Everyone took it easy for the first few sessions, learning the track. It was a bit cool & foggy for...

    Lube or no lube?

No, no, not in this case. This calls for 'Engine Ice'. One a week, take that chain off, soak over night in 'Engine Ice', full strength. Not only will the chain last for ever, it'll run 50 degrees cooler. Then if (when) you crash at the track you can blame it on excess chain-lube on the back...

    GP BIKES 2014 Trackdays

Pretty much taken from the Engine Ice sales sheet. Most of which turned out to be BS. (does not have greatly improved heat transfer properties, does not flow better, does not dry to a powder, does not dry with no residue) I know of propylene glycol from the industrial side. Propylene glycol is...

    GP BIKES 2014 Trackdays

The statement on the GP Bikes page is contradictory. They do not allow coolant but do allow "Engine Ice". This is probably an error, from the confusion caused during the sponsorship days in AMA. The AMA banned ethylene glycol based coolant, but allowed propylene glycol, therefore “Engine Ice”...

Next stupid question - wiring recessed bolts.

Use a machinist's centre drill to start the holes. You can get quite a steep angle and still start without problems.

    Ideas for heating race trailer?

"It's not a hot flash . . . it's a hot water bottle" To the OP; I borrow an RV with a furnace. If it gets chilly at night, I turn on the heat. It might be an idea to look for the smallest RV furnace you can find (probably 9000 BTU). It'll draw combustion air from outside and vent back outside.

    quick turn throttle question

He's looking at the cam on the Throttle Body. Smaller cam on the Throttle Body, or larger cam on the throttle tube, either way. In his case, yes, the Throttle Body cam would be much easier and shouldn't cost a lot.
