wondering if this engine is oem stock? sled? yes. sometimes just setting the carb back to ALL STOCK works - float, pilot jet(s), main jets. float height. most times the engineers have them set up pretty good from the factory. simply moving the needle jet one position can make an engine run...

weak ignition coil(s) ? sometimes coils fail when they heat up-but otherwise work before heated...have any spare coils to try? .my DT200 idled and ran well at 30 to 1.

its not just the 790's that have unanswered issues. The RC390 has a history of over heating - for years.. fix this properly ktm, this is your reputation at stake. Invaluable.

CSBK GULF race gas is ethanol free. Gulf guarantees the fuel good up to two years. Might be a good choice if you leave your tank full for the winter or longer.. I also like to payback gulf for the csbk support..

^yeah. if the original pipes are solid...and the tank inside rust free...it could be a good project. needs a look/see in person. I would keep the cool old green metalflake as is. and concentrate on getting the mechanical(s) of the bike done. zillion of these for sale dirt cheap.
