Do I really need an ABS ?

I agree that bad judgements do not equal bad tech, but when the tech does not allow the brakes to be applied in a situation where it's expected that they would work, then the tech is bad (in that situation). If the ABS essentially causes you to freewheel into an intersection when all known...

Do I really need an ABS ?

Yes, the judgement of a random internet forum poster is much more credible. Kidding aside, the video is a bit hokey, but there are several others that essentially reproduce the same results. Yes, pros can out-brake ABS after repeated attempts in known and controlled conditions (i.e...

Do I really need an ABS ?

In general, I'm a proponent of ABS on street bikes, but there are several reported instances of ABS kicking in and providing essentially no stopping power when braking over a series of stutter bumps. The theory is that the wheel would lock as it unloaded entering the divot causing ABS to...

Do I really need an ABS ?

Dirtbikes obviously have a significantly different use case, and hence requirements, than street bikes. I have read other cases where stutter bumps in the emergency stop path can be an issue for an ABS equipped bike, when the stutters essentially coincide with the ABS on/off cycling. I believe...

2019 tour on my new Goldwing

x1000. Would not do again. Heading more directly from Lindsay to North Bay, up the west side of Algonquin would provide more scenic options, but cut down on your route. Perhaps Lindsay to Barry's Bay, then westward through Algonquin and onto North Bay would preserve most of the route...

    2019 MotoGP Discussion (No links)

How much longer can Lorenzo's string of bad luck continue? Adjusting to a new bike has to be hard enough, but geez, if not for bad luck this guy wouldn't have any luck.

New Track Being Built - Discussion

For the price of this parcel, and all the development required, not to mention the challenges of environmental and other regs, wouldn't they be better off buying Shannonville and doing some upgrades and nearby offsite accommodations, etc? The drive from the GTA isn't much different, and...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

I ride plenty, but this would be a truck and trailer trip if I'm going to come home with another bike. 3.5 hours one way from my location now, or more if traffic through the GTA sucks. Recently relocated and I don't miss that daily commuter traffic one bit!

His FZ750 and VF750, each at $1500, both look like they're in fantastic shape. But did you see where he's located! The bikes look worth every cent he's asking, but the drive to get them kills the "worth it" measurement for me.

    2019 MotoGP Discussion (No links)

Ha ha! Lorenzo hit the pit lane limiter button at the start of the race, thus explaining his extremely poor start. Not a Lorenzo fan, but I feel a bit sorry for him due to his miserable string of bad luck. Lorenzo pressed pit speed limiter at start of Argentina MotoGP race

I think you're right, and after re-reading the ad, this line stood out: "...and Kris, our Parts & Accessories Manager, has dressed this 500 to stand apart from from other EXC models.". It now reads more like it's Kris' personal bike that's up for sale when combined with your other observations.

2013 Yamaha FZ8 for $7900. Looks in good condition, but Brampton Powersports was clearing out brand new ones for $6999 near the end of 2013. Not sure what caused this particular bike to increase in value over the past 5/6 years...

Those are the worst advertising pictures I've seen in a long time. Phone pics of (or scanned) old, low-res, paper pictures. I especially like the photo with his fingers. How tucked away is the bike, for it to be easier to cull through an old photo album to find photos to snap with your phone...

Quoting myself. Thought I'd circle back and have another look. 2.5 months later and it looks like every one of the bikes I listed are still there ... with unchanged prices. Plus a few new ones: 2012 Honda CBR250RA @ $4000 - isn't that what they sold for back in 2012? No depreciation in 7...

    They had a good run...

If I had to guess, I'd say tightening emissions regulations was the primary cause of the KLR 650's demise. It would be pretty hard to get that ancient engine to comply with current Euro emission standards, and if you're going to change engines, you may as well take an entirely fresh look at the...

    What's with romaine?

We recall and discard far more food than we need to for the sake of erring on the side of caution. Granted, lettuce would be a hard product to rid of e.coli because it's difficult to clean and consumed raw so a recall is reasonable, but many of the bacteria that are the basis for a recall are...
