Are you old enough to remember these motorcycle shops in To?

I was just thinking that. I bought a brand new 1980 Suzuki GS750 from Sonic Motorcycles in my last year of high school. I paid $3100 + 7% provincial sales tax. I made $3 an hour working minimum wage at Budget Rent A Car. So I had to work over 1000 hours to pay for that bike.

Are you old enough to remember these motorcycle shops in To?

I use to go in there occasionaly , it was run by a Czech guy and his wife. Generally pretty nice but he could be pretty cranky if you caught him on a bad day.Dont remember his name but it could have been Jerry. Funny story about that guy. A few years after it closed I remember opening up a Cycle...

Your right. He lives about 10 minutes north of me in Myrtle Station on HWY. 12. Haven’t seen him in ages but I know he’s got quite a bike collection up there.

Bar Hodgeson use to own a Kawasaki dealership at Kingston Rd. and Danforth in Scarborough. You could go in there on any given day and he would have a row of used H2’s he had gotten on trade ins In the showroom. My brother had a real nice ‘72 H2 that he took there for work. I rememember the...

Are you old enough to remember these motorcycle shops in To?

I use to drive by that place every day. I think Dick had a falling out with Honda or something like that in the late 70’s He locked the place up with bikes and showroom paraphernalia still in there. You could look into the front window, it was like a little time capsule in the 80’s and 90’s. I...

    Honda VFR1200 or ST1300

I think that was the trade off for comfort on both the 800 VFR and 1200 VFR. What it also got you was stability at high speeds.Lighter sport bikes are great on the track or billiard table smooth roads but when you hit a pot hole or bump on an Ontario backroad at warp speed it ain’t fun. The VFR...

    Honda VFR1200 or ST1300

I remember looking at a VFR 1200 when they first came out, I never rode it or sat on it but it didn’t look nearly as comfortable as the 800. I’m turning 60 this year and wouldn’t want to ride to Halifax on either of those two bikes.

    Honda VFR1200 or ST1300

Yes, a lot of people just can’t get past the fact that it’s a twin, I was one of them until I rode one.

    Honda VFR1200 or ST1300

If I were to go the sport touring route again I would seriously consider an older BMW 1250 RT . My Buddy lent me his for the day this summer and I absolutely fell in love with it. More comfortable than my ST1300 and just handled way nicer and felt much lighter and more agile. Transmission felt a...

    Honda VFR1200 or ST1300

So I’ve had two fifth generation VFR 800’s from new, a ‘99 and an ‘01 which I absolutely loved. In 2008 was looking to replace my VFR but didn’t care much for the current VTEC version. I came across a killer deal from Brampton Cycle on an ST1300 ($13,700 + HST) . I thought it would be similar...

    Alternative Heating

The problem with the installation as shown in the video is that you could potentially have two sources of power in the box that the switch/receptacle is mounted in - power from your panel as well as power from your generator. An inspector would definitely have a problem with that.

    Alternative Heating

That is correct. You also have to have a means of isolation (a switch) next to the furnace, you don’t generally put them ON the furnace as they show in the video. It has to be on a dedicated circuit. The wiring from the switch back to the panel does not need to be in BX. If I were to do this...

    Alternative Heating

The neutral for the furnace becomes isolated when you unplug it from the switch/receptacle.

But will I die? (static vs dynamic balancing your tires)

A couple of things come to mind reading this thread. 1) Lay your tires out in the sun on your driveway for an hour or two before mounting them and they will go on much easier. Sport bike tires will literally fall onto the wheel. 2) I use to go down to the AMA superbike races every year between...

    Electrician In Mississauga

I always put 20 amp receptacles in garages. Same amount of work, breaker and receptacles cost the same. The only difference is the slightly higher cost of 12 guage wire as opposed to 14 guage but well worth it.

    CarbTune Question

That Carbtune has only been used once My apologies. I sold one a couple of weeks ago to someone on this forum. I thought it was you but I was wrong.I must have sucked on those old mercury gauges one too many times.

    CarbTune Question

That Carbtune has only been used once so I don’t think it will be very dirty inside. I would try using it and see what happens. See if the rods rise in the columns when it’s running, they should flutter up and down a bit , maybe 1 or 2mm but that’s normal and you know that it’s working properly

    CarbTune Question

I agree, the rods are a pretty snug fit in the tubes. I’m not sure that they are suppose to move too freely

    CarbTune Question

Just realized if you turn it upside down or shake it with the restrictors on , the rods probably won’t move much because it has to force the air through those tiny restrictors which are literally the size of a hair. Try taking the restrictors and or hoses off when you turn it upside down
