I witnessed the fire-truck tag-behind on 400 south two weekends ago (motorcyclist crashed, 400 was closed at Innisfil Beach Road).
As traffic came to a slow crawl, I observed several motorcycles using the right shoulder to pass everyone.
In all seriousness, tires coming loose and flying over into opposing traffic seems to be frequent. Two serious-injury incidents on Hwy 400 in as many weeks (not sure how many tires fly off and _don't_ hit someone).
Hmmm... I never considered the carbon-fiber helmet / faraday cage effect.
Maybe that's why I feel my brain energized after a brisk ride through rush-hour traffic? I thought it was the adrenaline. Maybe my helmet blocks the government programming?
The other thread on here about the M2X course/test got me wondering - are the rider training/testing outfits going to allow students with turbans vs helmets.
If the Rexdale/27 course meets the MoT requirements, why doesn't RTI offer this to all prospective students instead of pretending: “100cc-250cc” version is also available for M2 class riders who own a motorcycle/scooter between 100cc and 250cc that cannot reach highway speeds in excess of...
I think RTI is the bad actor in this case - for having this full M course/test with highway exclusion. They are doing a disservice to the rider and encouraging gaming the system. They should cancel this and force riders to the regular program for M or the limited-speed M.
And I'd suggest caution on riding the bike. If you get caught for no-insurance, you'll be out of the game for many more years. There's some other sob story posts on here about this.
Try Dalton Timmins. I don't have personal experience but from other posts here they look the best for new riders.
It's not the M1/M2 licence causing the prohibitive quote. It's the years licenced and years with a motorcycle policy - I'm assuming zero for you for both of these. This combined...
Two years ago, I had a coworker with a BMW HP4. It was stolen from his condo garage, but since he had the cellular tracker, he was quickly able to find where it was (and police recovered it). I don't have any other details on this story...
