Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

So, today I picked up a tap (the shop didn't have a thread chaser) and followed the step by step instructions @Brian P posted above. The tensioner is finally in place. The noise that caused me to think that CCT has gone bad is still there, but that's a problem for another day I suppose. Thanks...

    Looking for riding bud

Hey, I'm around the area and don't have any particular riding schedule. I try to catch the burger nights and if possible, do the Thursday rides at Financial dr/Steeles. Give me a shout when you plan on riding, if I'm free I'll join in.

Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I'll try to source a thread chaser and continue the process. Given my skill level, I suppose it's safer to try and get a thread chaser. If anyone around Scarborough, North York, Markham got one I can borrow...? I'll go to some hardware shops and see if i can find...

Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

Sprayed a bit of wd40 (i know not ideal) and tried a small flat head screwdriver to see if anything is stuck behind. Looks like tapping would be needed.

Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

Reporting back on this. The bolt only goes 3 or 4 turns when I try to hand tighten. Swapped bolts and tried the other bolt, same result. Any advise on this? Difference in how much the bolt goes in between the two sides.

Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

Thank you, @matt365 @GreyGhost @Brian P ! GG, I left a flat head screw driver to hold the tensioner in position when I was threading the bolt in order give some leverage. It surely seems like I don't have the right tools. The T handle hex wrench I have doesn't come with a ball end, and it's...

Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

Both the bolts are exact same length. I checked their lengths and interchanged the bolts as well. The part diagram also suggests it's the same length. From what I can see the tensioner is sitting flush. The bolt on the outside fits as it should.

Question about a bolt sticking out - cam chain tensioner on FZ6

Literally, the story of my life. I was replacing the CCT on my FZ6. The hex bolt on the inner side wouldn't go all the way. Day 1 I tried and was in a bit of a hurry, but today I pulled everything out and did it from scratch, nope. The CCT looks like it is sitting tight but I wasn't sure if I...

Need help with Riding gear rental for M2 License

If you're doing it through an institute (RTI, Mtohp, or similar), they probably have it listed on what's acceptable. At the time I was taking the test, all they needed was a denim jacket, denim pants, hard toe boots that covered ankle, a riding glove, and a helmet. I had everything else except...

22y/o looking to get into riding!

They're pretty decent in terms of insurance... @bigpoppa doesn't like them :p You won't get the nod from the GTAM baller club. You'll get there after a few years. Age is one of the factors and it's not on your side right now but with a few years of experience under your belt, you'll get...

22y/o looking to get into riding!

Since you say you have experience riding motorcycles, check out sv650, fz07, r7 etc. Insurance is lower on those from what I know. You can find good used r3, ninja 400 as a track only bike, if you are interested only in tracking the bike. The expenses are towing the bike to the track, parts...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Today someone rear ended me...slow speed, maybe 20 kmph. No damages to my car or theirs, and no bodily injuries to either parties. A driver cut right in front of me, turning left and I didn't have the visibility until the last moment because of traffic in the other lane. I braked hard and came...
