I've been questioning whether I need to use premium fuel in my bike just to avoid Ethanol. My bike only requires regular fuel, but for $3 per tank, I've always went with Shell Premium fuel. What do you use? And why?

My manual said PON(I believe equal to m+r/2 in North America). If I read correctly, RON91 about the same as PON or m+r/2 87.

My bike manual said 86 PON or higher so regular should be fine, but I only used Shell Premium because of Ethanol. Maybe I'm wasting my money.

So are we fine if run on EFI engines? I heard some stories about how they gum up the internal chambers and damage fuel lines. I don't know how much of these are true though.

I wonder about potential damages done by Ethanol in the fuel. It's a PIA to look for Shell gas stations just to avoid Ethanol. Is there any mechanics that have seen damages done by Ethanol when not being stored?

My apologies. I just wanted to say that paying retail isn't too bad when you can conveniently pick it up when they are at a store. I know we can shop online and all, but there is something about walk into a store and see the stuff in real life and pick it up right there on the spot. Anyway...
