I test rode the XR1200. Loved the look but found it underwhelming for a few reasons. It was a $15K, 600 lb semi-sportbike with 80 HP. Who was this marketed to? The old guard hated it, and younger riders found better alternatives.

My last 3 helmets have been Bell Stars. Easy to remove padding, visor system works well and large selection of tints. I have the photo-chromatic visor now, so no longer need to swap. Something else to consider.

Easy to swap to another tank, 10 minutes tops. Local guy has a '48 with a 1200 Custom tank for longer trips. That one holds 17L vs 8L on the '48. Iron, IIRC is around 12-13L.
