    No Harley Bikes here ..?

I've owned a lot of bikes but I always wanted a Harley just to see what the hype is all about. I've now put over 50,000k on my Super Glide. I've had it for more than 4 years, which is longer than any other bike I've owned. Other than regular maintenance, the only thing it's needed is a new...

New rider - Highways and freeways

Guy in my office just bought a Street 500 a few weeks ago. He was also concerned about highway riding. Not so much keeping up with traffic, but fighting the wind. He made it to Port Dover last week, so I think he's figured it out. Give it time.

    Friday 13th @ Port Dover

I go to every PD13 that I can. It's an excuse to take a day off work, get together with friends, go for a ride, do some people watching and look at tons of different bikes. What could be better? We do plenty of 'real' riding the rest of the year. It has nothing to do with posing.

    Looking Americade tips .

Been twice. First time we camped, second time, hotel. Book now. It's an easy day's ride. Also decide if you want to actually buy a pass for the rally. We did a couple years ago, it got us free admission to the Tourexpo as well as a dinner on one of the boats on Lake George which was a lot of...

Adventures of crashing in Vietnam, breaking my leg

Great story! Glad I read it now and not last month. My gf and I just did 3 weeks in SE Asia. Rented scooters for a day in both Laos and Cambodia. $15/ day, insurance and helmets included. Two of the most memorable days of my life! But, yes, we did keep saying “Hope nothing happens, we’re in the...

Normal to be exhausted next day after long ride?

Big guy on small bike with passenger for that long? No wonder you're tired. The overall strain on you and your machine will wear you down. There's a reason why most long distance touring bikes are big. If you did the same thing on a proper touring bike, you'd feel a lot better.

Is it necessary to be in shape for fishing on a kayak?

I'm into both. Park the bike for the winter, put proper winter tires on the Mustang and I'm good to go!

From an old Cycle Canada tech column

A buddy of mine got a lifetime subscription to CC many, many years ago. They've definitely lost money on him!

    What's H-D up to now ?

Despite what people seem think, HD has always kept up with technology but they must integrate in into their decades-old designs to keep their customer base happy. They do a pretty good job of it I think.

    What's H-D up to now ?

I ride a Dyna and I wear Dainese gear, no HD stuff, and I have stock exhaust too! I'm atypical, but I sure appreciate the bikes.

Honda Rebel 500 or latest Gen Sv650 or ???

CB500F is the standard version of the Honda 500 line up. Rebel is definitely a cruiser!

Tire puncture repair tool - great design

I bought one of those at a BMW dealer to carry in my (non-BMW) tool kit. Small & inexpensive insurance. Still never had to use it. (whew!)

Out of gas at 120km 94 Honda magna

The Magna has a complicated engine and it's now pretty much a vintage machine, with all the constant maintenance issues that come with it; not the greatest bike for an inexperienced rider. If you don't even know what a choke is, or what it does, you have a bit of a learning curve ahead of you.

Riding w/baseball bag & bats, is it allowed?

My son plays ball and I'd often ride to his games carrying equipment that he'd forgotten at home - bats, gear, etc. Just strap it down tight.

Ontario 101 across from Chapleau - anyone been on recently?? 566??

We saw a coupe of bears running across 129 when we were up there a couple years ago. One guy had pulled over in his pickup, leaned out his passenger side window, and was poking a young bear with a broomstick to get it off the road. We were right behind him on our bikes hoping the bear got the...

Tory takes aim at noisy motorcycles

My g/f lives downtown and I can tell you, she knows when it's summer because all the loud bikes and cars are out and about. It's annoying for the thousands of condo-dwellers downtown.

    M/C incident by machine category

Harleys may seem underpowered on paper but they produce sufficient amounts of torque to get you going. My FXDC (with the rare stock exhaust) has plenty of useable power, will beat any car off the line, and cruises at 130 kph all day long with ease.

    Freedom Machine Rally

Riding up to my bro's place (biological bro not biker bro!) in Kimberley right from work this evening, then I'll head to the rally Saturday for a couple hours, gawk at the cool bikes, grab some grub, then head home. Hope they have good food there. Nice solo riding adventure with no one to...
