    ADV fad

You're right. You can go off-road with a 600lb ADV bike. But it's a lot more easy, and practical to go off-road on a 300lb bike. They just won't do 260km/h on the highway, and even though the guys who own them will never go that fast, it's always comforting to know that power is there...

    ADV fad

I'm on the fence about ADVs. Mine is a lightweight, 380lbs. I bought it for fuel efficient commuting and I equipped it as such (heated grips, hard bags, fog lights, aftermarket comfy seat). I bought it over the DRZ400 because it's modern and it handles better on the highway, very sport-tourer...

    Sealant for engine cases

I would recommend 518 for amateurs who don't know how to use Form-a-Gasket.

    Sealant for engine cases

It stays squishy for a long time. It is a rubber-like adhesive, will never completely harden. Do not overdo it. Just paint on enough to do the job. It soaks into the gasket, then when you torque it down the gasket squishes and seals tightly.

    Sealant for engine cases

Permatex "Form-a-gasket" available at Canadian Tire. I have always used it putting together engines with paper gaskets. Used properly it seals forever.

    What gear do you wear?

Easier to stand in the shower with the gear on for awhile. Find out quick.

    Helmet Breaking In Strategies

They're all made like that these days. Clamp tight to stop movement (safety you know). I was thinking of getting a turnbuckle and leaving it in the helmet pushing the sides apart but thought the better of it. Will suffer in silence.

    Biker missing.

Need to know where his favorite riding spots are. Could be in any ditch in Southern On, unless foul play.

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2021 Edition)

Still commuting and riding a bit on weekends, by usual routine. I pack it in the first week or two in November, when evening/early morning temps tend to dip below freezing. I have KOSO heated grips on both bikes, Gerbings heated jacket liner and gloves. I wear snow pants the last two weeks of...

    Helmet Breaking In Strategies

I find that the newer helmets are designed to fit too tight. My Schuberth C$ modular feels okay until you close the front, then it pushes in the sides of the helmet and clamps your head in tight. It has loosened up a bit over the past two years, but I still think my favorite fitting FF was my...

Honda that follows you to parking spot

I don't know, I find this just a little creepy. Like some Stephen King novel or something.

How's your mileage been so far ?

Only done about 12,500 this year, mostly commuting to work. Down about 40% from my usual. Still figure I can do another 2000km. Too many projects to finish. Will make up for it next summer.

What GPS & mount do you run or are you a phone or paper map rider?

My KTM came with a rough-in for a Garmin. I'm running the Garmin Zumo XT. Haven't lost it yet.

Who is heading across the border ?

Haven't been there in 5 years. Maybe I'll take a trip there next year. Things are still too messed to go there this year, and the season is almost over.

    Adrian looking for thieves

Any website asking for your phone number is a scam site. IG sucks.

    Rider Aids hate

Not a big fan of TC or ABS except in the rain. Off-road the TC will stall your bike every time you try to climb a steep/slippery/sandy/bumpy hill. I can turn TC off, but it's never really completely off and if the bike stalls the TC automatically turns back on. Got so angry about it one day I...

    Indian

It just so happens that one of the two guys who started Indian was if I recall correctly Navajo, that's where the name comes from. He did all the racing for Indian and often won. People at the Indian factory called him "The Chief" because he was the boss and he was native Indian. When he...

    Chinese Manufacturer News

It's easy enough to build a motorcycle. It's quite another thing to set up the parts and dealer support to keep them serviced. I don't expect to see Chinese bikes become successful here for a long time.

    Indian

Polaris is mimicking Harley Davidson's heritage motif, that has resulted in some beautifully styled bikes. Sorry the OP doesn't like fringes, I have them on my Harley saddle bags and they look great on the Chief. If he'll lend me his wife for the night I'll prove they're not gay. Leatherwork...
