    Downtown bike parking “fun”

The 2006 models and poossibly up to 2008 had some bikes (not all) with issues around cracks at the frame welds. It was an issue fixed with models starting in either 2008 or 2009. You can get a 2008+ FZ1 with similar or less mileage for a similar price than that 2006 bike in Montreal. Here's a...

    Downtown bike parking “fun”

If getting a newer FZ1, then get one that is 2009 and up. They are solid bikes and will have boatloads more power than your last bike. No problem finding one well under $10k which you can have some coin left to get aftermarket stuff you want. If you are on Facebook there are a couple good FZ1...

    Downtown bike parking “fun”

Wow that sucks. 1st gen FZ1 (2001-2005) is carbed and 2006 onward is FI. The older models have a larger gas tank with slightly longer range. I really like my 1st gen. You can get racks to mount Givi bags with both models, and if buying used, many owners have already added the racks and may...

Route suggestions GTA to Blue Ridge Parkway

The BRP is around 750km. Do you plan to ride to the top of it and then ride the whole thing to the bottom? I agree with the others, ride to the top of the BRP in one day and then make your way south at your own pace. Asides from taking the interstate, the 219 is the next best way to cover...

    2024 Weekly BurgeRR Meetup - Wednesdays @7PM

I saw a pic of it on FB and it looked really busy - bikes parked down the whole street.

    Bancroft hwy 28 - wtf??

Was just on that section of 28 today. Lots of absent minded driving behaviours around Bancroft and it’s a Wednesday. So many people trying to overtake on solid yellow lines with poor visibility and then having to cut back into their lane. Met a tow truck driver today up near Calabogie who was...

    Anyone going to the USA????

I'm going first week of Oct for 9 days, riding to Deals Gap. Happy to strap that on my bike for you and bring it back around Oct 6, if you decide that's the way to go here.

    2024 Weekly BurgeRR Meetup - Wednesdays @7PM

I'm riding out to Calabogie and Barry's Bay tomorrow. If I get back to the GTA in time and not too tired, I would pop by.

    Misguided aesthetics

Seems we don't have a thread for this kind of stuff... I almost spit my breakfast out.

    Inflation

I grew up around there and we only drank that water all through the 80's, so after the horse farm. I remember that when they developed the area just south of it to build McMansions, the spring water become polluted and they had to shut it down. There's a spring that people use up in Elmvale...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I tend to drop my bikes and the longer stock levers kept snapping off. Shorty levers aren’t as wide as the bars so they don’t break, which is great because then I don’t need extra levers when I go on trips. I like how they look better. Never had a problem with the 2 finger pull on stock levers.

What did you do in your garage today..?

I had a set of cheapo eBay shorty levers on my orange Strom for about 100k They looked really good compared to Pazzo’s and we’re a nice metallic orange. At some point, the hole in the lever where the cable end sits snugly into became larger. I think it was due to very mild friction and rubbing...

Recommendation for non power ranger boots!

I think they are these ones: Held Air n Dry 2-in-1 Motorcycle Gloves They are an older version, but almost never worn. Too big for me at 12xxl, so they just collect dust.

Recommendation for non power ranger boots!

Will do - I’m out of town right now, so in a couple days.

Recommendation for non power ranger boots!

I have a pair of Held gloves that have a Goretex liner built in. You can slide your hand into the Goretex liner when it’s raining or put them into the ‘Breeze’ side for non-waterproof breezy conditions which has small perforations. They have light protection but are very comfortable. I haven’t...

Recommendation for non power ranger boots!

Daytonas all day for me. Have the Roadstar GTX (amazing comfort, waterproof, look unobtrusive and good for walking) and they are the best boot I’ve worn for both daily riding and multi day trips. Also have the Evo Sports for all day use when no rain in the forecast - like day rides up north.
