    Tuono 660

Had a ride on a friend’s Tuono 660 today. All I can say is wow, I can’t get the grin off my face. That motor just wants to be reved. It seems to be happiest when it’s getting a lot of throttle but unlike a big bike wont bite you (as bad) and the torque and gearing is all about the real world...

    How about that

I fundamentally believe that people should get vaccinated. I don’t believe that it will prevent you from getting Covid but I believe it can help reduce the severity of the symptoms. Take this with a grain of salt as I’m not a doctor (and I didn’t even stay at a Holiday Inn last night) so talk to...

Anyone have an interesting off-season project?

In the middle of restoring this. It was a bit of a mash up as it had the later Canadian forks and footrests on it, but the frame and motor is a 84 so that's what it will end up as. Its all stripped and the frame is actually in quite good condition. I just made a start on the motor as...

    300-400cc Race Bike

Thanks for all the help and all useful comments posted above. Especially Brian P. I ended up getting a used 400 Ninja but was a little concerned about the issue where they pop out of gear. I'd read about that on a number of other forums as well. I ended up taking the motor apart to check...

    New class for CSBK

Yes, you are not wrong. I've been running a Billet crank on my 421 Serval Motor... Billet Crankshaft Its quite a robust item. The shafts are 6mm thicker and I run RG 500 big end bearings. I've got about 12k on my LC and so far so good. Its just running the standard stator as well so I did...

    New class for CSBK

This is my friend Ryan's bike in the UK. Its a 443 Cub in a Mito Chassis. 109 HP on his initial runs on the dyno, he has smoothed out the lower part of the curve since then with different carbs and an new ignition so that flat part between 3.5k and 6k is gone. Probably not what you want for...

    New class for CSBK

Or why not go for the best of both worlds. A 443 Banshee motor in a R3 chassis... LOL Roger is doing frame kits for these now. I've actually ridden this one around the block at his shop. He said its around 100hp... its bloody mental, in a good way.

    New class for CSBK

A stockish RZ350 can easily reach high 50's+ horsepower at the rear wheel . Yamaha claimed 59hp for the 31k that was sold in Canada and Europe and 63 for the later 1UA models. That's at the crank of course. The 48H that was sold in the US was so choked up with emissions control kit that they...

    Rigged gas pumps

Worried about that myself. I have one engine that just under 13:1 compression so needs high octane. It sounds like a bucket of bolts with regular. I think it will have a bigger effect on a small motorcycle tank. i still have a local shell that has a premium only hose. That being said I don’t...

    RIP Wes…

Two-time AMA Pro Superbike Champion Wester “Wes” Steven Cooley died Saturday, October 16 at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho, from complications of diabetes. He was 65 years old. 65 years is really nothing in the grand scheme of things. RIP Wes, the original #34

Oooooh, the new Ducati Scrambler was unveiled.

I wasn't a big fan of the old Scrambler, or scramblers in general, but I actually quite like this. Yes, I have a beard at the moment...

    300-400cc Race Bike

Thanks guys. The information on this thread is gold. I was actually googling 400 Ninja transmission problems and came across the Norton Motorsports page. That's a very through write-up The Ohlins cartridges are much "cheaper" than I thought. Looks like they are around $995. Its still more...

    300-400cc Race Bike

Thanks Brian. This is really, really helpful, especially the bit about the cartridges. I would have probably got some gold valves from Racetech and called it a day.

    300-400cc Race Bike

Thanks Brian. Someone else already mentioned NortonFab and I know Spears as I used to have a SV650. I’m assuming it would always be cheaper buying a race prepped bike but if not what would you tackle first. I’m assuming springs and emulators and rear shock (is the rear shocks parts bin items...

    300-400cc Race Bike

I do some racing with AHRMA and they announced their schedule for next year and there are only 2 rounds that are even close enough to attend in 2022. It not a lot of track time and I really don’t know if its worth the time and expense of preparing 2 bikes for it. There is a lot of local club...

    Food prices

Yes, California. I think its a combination of things. There is a months long backlog at the Port of Los Angeles where most goods from Asia come in so Walmart, etc. have no stock, but that's more for consumer goods. Many ships are being diverted to Vancouver. While ships are sitting idle there...
