It is a violation. Strictly speaking, every device (appliance, etc) plugged into circuits has to be "listed" for the purpose and used for the purpose listed. No way there would be a product that would let you draw from 2 legs that would bypass a common overcurrent disconnect (i.e. 2 leg breaker...
I am reluctant to post here because of keyboard warriors mounting up with little or no qualifications....
Relax; your facts-based argument is losing traction to those who don't know that they don't know enough to know how little they know.
There seems to be some basic lack of understanding...
From a ladder safety standpoint:
He's clearly making 3 or more points of contact with his ladder but the evidence is inconclusive regarding the "belt-buckle" rule.
A 5 hour flight is as uncomfortable in gear as it is out of it. At least I wasn't cold... and I really didn't care what surfaces I bumped up in to. Or what surfaces bumped into me.
+1 to the helmet as carry on -- in a good helmet bag. Never had a problem.
A few times I even rode the bike to the airport, parked in the free motorcycle parking right at the terminal (check out PDX), and flown wearing my leathers and boots.

If you want to read into things and get butt hurt and still have a bike with problems then there's nothing I can do.
People get all weird when it comes to wiring. It's not that hard. But it requires...
You will open all the circuits when you do that. Don't do that. Things can run with a dead battery on a good charging system but they can't with no battery and no ground connection.
... and don't do stupid things like unhooking your battery while the motor is spinning. They will tell you nothing and possibly damage components that aren't already damaged.
