    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

What solvents do you use? Seems some use paint stripper, and I find brake cleaner is OK, but not great. I see CRC and Permatex make (or used to make?) gasket remover, though I can't find anywhere to buy it. Amazon is overpriced and a few weeks lead time, and no local options that I can see...

    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

It seems the more I read the more confused I get. This is what I have read about so far. Would appreciate your personal experiences working on gasket surfaces on Aluminum - what methods you used, techniques, etc. 1) Some people say use a razor at an angle to get gunk off. This will often cause...

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Friend of mine has a 1942 Mosin (and a few other arms now). Had the chance to shoot it on Crown Land last summer - was quite intimidated by it, but we went out again a few weeks back, and I had an absolute blast (pun not intended), despite knee high snow and -25 all day long. Something so cool...

Re: Short term work spaces in Toronto

Hmm, if i have to figure out a lighting situation for a storage locker that's just more stuff I have to buy, which makes it more complicated logistically and financially. Draining fluids prior isn't an option because then I'd also have to pay to tow it there and back. I actually found a listing...

Re: Short term work spaces in Toronto

Can you drain oil and coolant etc in these? I imagine that would be a SERIOUS fine if I got caught :$ If I got caught while the bike was in pieces I'd probably be even more screwed than if I never rented in the first place. Dang it is a tempting idea though..

Re: Short term work spaces in Toronto

I figured I'd post this here instead of technical - though it's kind of somewhere in the middle! My bike needs lots of love before the spring. I'm overdue on an oil change (still need to find a smaller jug of T4, or lug a massive pale home), I need to do a 685 bore (KLR life) because I drink...

What Are You Currently Listening To?

Ic3peak are awesome... Such a refreshing sound and they are super hardcore as far as tolerating the FSB being on their tails every time they perform somewhere. Played some of their stuff at my new years party a few years back! They have a pretty long interview on youtube, but I think it's only...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2021 Edition)

I'm still riding. My commute is short, so I plan to be doing that every day unless there's snow or ice on the roads... Which hopefully won't be the case... Last year I think I had the bike away for just over two months. Hoping to get away with one this year. Can't stand the TTC anymore... I'd...

    What happened to Rotella stock?

Maybe this is only an issue for my oil-burning KLR self. But I've noticed I cant find Rotella T4 in Toronto Canadian Tires other than the HUGE 18L pales, for which I'd also need to invest in a transfer pump... Anyone happen to know anything about this? Do you think they are phasing it out, or...

Where can I park on Queens Quay?

Might try around Amsterdam maybe. Or the place hear Harbour 60, though might be sus if there aren't other bikes there. Last few times I drove down there I went to the paid parking next to the ferry and the guy was nice enough to only charge $10 instead of $20-25 like they do for cars. I'm gonna...

Where can I park on Queens Quay?

Yikes. Yeah I saw freeland st on the map, but street view shows the signs are permit only? Is parking at the police marina free? Might be worth a shot to do that. Bit of a walk but F*** paying for parking ugh.

Where can I park on Queens Quay?

So I’ve been having to go to the island quite a lot lately, and have a very hard time finding free parking on Queens Quay. Everywhere else in the city I just park on the street and it’s no problem, but QQ has no street parking and is incredibly touristy. If anyone has any tips on where to...

Post up PICS of members bikes?

I’m not much of a milk crate guy myself 😂 I find Rok Straps can carry just about anything from a 10 pack of timbits to a 2-3 foot tall pile of camping gear!

    CB Radio on Motorcycle

Honestly, that would be the way easier solution, and I prefer the look. However, with a full-face, I am not sure how possible that would be :( I am not much of a brain bucket guy...

    CB Radio on Motorcycle

I expect it to be a little impractical 😄 But also super super super cool

    CB Radio on Motorcycle

Hey All! Was chatting to some friends about getting a comms system sometime for our trips. Not a fan of the Cardo et al. as it seems range is not great, and price is steep for the comparatively awful sound quality (god I love my Shure SE215s....). We are thinking of rigging up a DIY CB Radio...

Anyone Work in Trades? Tell Me About Your Journey!

Wow thanks everyone for the thoughtful and informative responses! I've been MIA for a bit dealing with some personal stuff, but its nice coming back to this after a few weeks and reading all of your responses. Going to give another read or 10 as there's a ton of info and experiences on here...

Anyone Work in Trades? Tell Me About Your Journey!

Thanks everyone for the responses so far! Seems like finding someone close-ish to me to get a foot in is the way to go. Though I am still unsure if avoiding college is possible - I imagine many people don't want want to work with someone totally green with no experience in the field, and that...

Sounds awesome! If I recall correctly, elevating technician is one of the highest paid trades, for obvious reasons…
