What did you do in your garage today..?

9 hours later, sound insulation in the back is down and the Jeep is back together. Will do the front later, maybe this weekend

The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Buy this set - the blue tool will remove the case back with no issue.

The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Yeah I bought a cheap $25 watch press off of Amazon that worked great. It came with a case back opener and and pry tool to pop off the bezel. Other tools I used was just some small screwdrivers and also if you are doing stuff with the crystal/dial, Bergeon sells this putty stuff that picks up...

The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Yeah it still is. A lot of Rolex GMT/sub/etc. dive two tone style watches have nick names. Sprite, Coke, Rootbeer, Batman, etc. Its a lot easier to say Pepsi than BLRO or Batman instead of BLNR.

New front seal came with the crystal. Case back seal you can buy but I didn't change it. It should be fairly water tight but without testing it who really knows. I'm not swimming with it so I don't care if it can't go down to 200m anymore, just rather dust proof.

Well I got some of the parts on (new crystal, bezel, bezel insert, chapter ring, and rotor). I didn't know they made two different movement spacers, and apparently I have the wrong one that doesn't allow me to run the clear case back, so you can't see by new fancy rotor... :( So I've got some...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Yeah I bought a roller with it. Works well to make the stuff stick. Mat is just room temp. I get what you mean. Having small areas without matt on it shouldn't change anything, but in my head I need to cover everything blue.

What did you do in your garage today..?

2hrs later of laying down matt... This is taking for ever

What did you do in your garage today..?

I needed some sound deadening mat for a a few keyboards I'm working on, but only ended up using like 1.5ft2 of the 36ft2 the box came with. Not uncommon people have gutted their Jeeps and plastered sound deadening everywhere as apparently if you do everywhere (floor, wheel wells, inside doors)...

Has the city lost it's mind...

Back to city violence; Part of me always wonders if there has been an explosion of violence in the city/on public transport or if we are just hearing about it more. Was is 2018 or 19 when racism was huge on the news? Someone jackass would write the n-word on the inside of a port-a-potty at a...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

If you've got some cash to spend, I have this Wera Kraftform Bit set that has saved me a few times when you come accross these random obscure bits.

What did you do in your garage today..?

What a nightmare this weekend has been. Swapping the front calipers on my 2019 Jeep JL to the rubicon brakes because they are slightly bigger, plus new pads and rotors. In the kit are the flex lines between the calipers and the hardlines on the frame. Of coarse, the flare nuts on BOTH sides...

The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

These are the only two watches that I actually wear. Left is a Marathon Pilot Navigator and right is a Seiko SKX009. The Marathon is neat because all the lume is tritium tubes. Just got it back from Marathon after a hand replacement and service. Also on its second bezel. Really cool watch but...

    Boat Show

I'd have to ask him but inboard/outboard seems to be what I remember it looking like. In 2009 when he cut it up I would have been 13. Don't remember a whole lot from back then.

    COVID and the housing market

Back on watches - I keep waiting for the price of a GMT Pepsi or Batman to be sub $15k again, and then I'd consider buying one. Some Rolex's are dropping fast from their peak, others not so much... I did just buy about $330 worth of bezel, bezel inset, crystal, chapter ring, rotor, and case...

    Boat Show

I'll have to ask my dad what boat he had when I was growing up. From what I recall it was like an 18ft bowrider with an inboard engine, probably from the year 1995. We did a lot of tubing behind it on Lake Scugog. The last time I saw that boat was when he was cutting it up in the backyard with...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Cutting a hole in the side of the cabinet with a mini chainsaw hahaha Replacing the countertop itself wasn't bad, just really heavy - like 150lbs. I made all the mistakes with the drain on the last one, so this one went together the first time with no issues.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

All done. Went a lot smoother the second time around.
