I thought I would keep riding my 2015 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 for a bit longer as it only had 235,000+ km. I really liked the changes Suzuki made to the 2020 DL1050 (cruise being a big one plus lots of other stuff.) I brought it home July 1st. It's just short of 25,000 km. (Might hit it tomorrow.)...
I do commute daily if there isn't ice or snow on the road (or risk of) down to -18c but thus year with C19 probably did half my usual commuting km's. (Work closed, alternate shifts etc) I actually rode a lot more when we were shut down as I would go out on little day rides and end up back home...
My Last ride in 2020 was Dec 31st. (Only got a bit over 49,000 km in 2020. The last few years more like 52,000 or 53,000 km.) My first ride in 2021 was Jan 1st. Unfortunately not a lot of riding since because my neck of the woods still has some icy roads. I think tomorrow should be a decent day...
Great Review Shane! great pictures and nice narrative! I would have done the same trip but don't yet have a comfy seat that works on my new bike (It's coming any day now!) I was thinking of doing it in October but suspect snow may be too much of a risk so might just do a little loop up to...
I ride all year round down to -18c. I do day rides at -10 with no issue.
"Warm n Safe" brand heated gloves, jacket and socks combined with Aerostich Fleace pants all under my Aerostich Roadcrafter. Long ago I stopped bothering with "base layers" as they made me sweat like a pig when stopped...
I did about 700 km today basically north of Hwy 7 around headed east to Perth. Only got a bit of drizzle when I went down around Kingston area then headed home.

Useless fact: When a solid turns directly to vapor it is called "subliminating"
I was out later in the day for a few hours when the two inches of snow we received sublimated.

Easy to make sanitize if you have 99% alcohol and aloe Vera. (Plus some lemon oil). Basically is a bit less than 30 % aloe and the rest alcohol plus a dab of lemon juice for that nice smell.
I have some travel bottles (for shampoo. Conditioner, etc.) that I got from Sail. Reason I...
I went out for a bit this aft (about 200 km.) I was watching the storms on the radar display on my gps and dodged several of them. Never got more than a little drizzle on me. There was one wicked looking storm heading my way near Lindsay. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had turned into a...
I wish it was like a beach!
There was a fair amount of sand as typical in spring. What was as bad was much of it was heavily frost heaved so very rough. I kind of expected it butts very surprised anyone else was as silly as me to ride it now. :)
Btw I was on 507 a couple of weeks ago. Bottom...
I went out for a little ride yesterday. iIt was +8 when I left home in the afternoon. Fun playing in the wind gusts! Temps dropped quickly in the last hour from +6 to -2. Cold hands when gassing up near home (should have left my gloves on!)
-12 on the way in to work this morning.

I added heated seat (Russel Day long) and heated grips ("Hot Grip brand) over the last year. Otherwise normal street clothes as base layer (today my regular Tilly Travel Dress socks, jeans, t-shirt and normal shirt. Over that "Warm n Safe" brand heated jacket with an Aerostich wind blocker...
It's all about gear. I'm comfy enough that down to -10 or -15 the only thing I have to think about is the possibility of snow or ice.
I did see one other bike. Not sure what it was (I think a cruiser but was quite a ways ahead. Was riding along Mount Albert sideroad west of Sharon and pulled...
