    900,000 students coming in…

Wouldn't want to ruffle any foreign feathers by having federal agencies do their job!

    900,000 students coming in…

CRA/FINTRAC could find a ton of money laundering by auditing most luxury car dealerships in Markham. When I was at U of T I saw many 20 year olds driving brand new M3s with Town and Country BMW plate frames.

Has the city lost it's mind...

I really hope this doesn't ever pan out. I hear this rumour every couple of years but I've never actually seen it happen. I also can't see Dougie doing it after scrapping the emissions testing and plate stickers, it's political suicide.

    900,000 students coming in…

Europe still sits on the USA's shoulders because without America's massive military prowess, they would be totally screwed. It's easy to spend $$$ on social programs and free <XYZ> when you can entirely rely on someone else's military. Free trade wouldn't be what it is today without the US Navy...

    900,000 students coming in…

Germany spends roughly the same amount as we do on education according to the OECD. The number of students coming to study at colleges (non university) is the fastest growing area, making up 41% of international students in 2019 (it's probably even higher now). Labour force participation by...

    900,000 students coming in…

Diploma mills exist because there is an artificial supply of foreign people willing to pay large sums of money to come here and get PR, enabled by Federal immigration policy. If you take that supply of students away the diploma mills disappear. It's not like these strip mall colleges are fine...

    900,000 students coming in…

Please. Most of these diploma mills are private career colleges which don't see government money anyway -- they are just being opportunistic. Even the public colleges aren't that hard done by. There is an argument to be made for universities, which have seen declining public funding over the...

    UVIP

Careful with that one. They blacklist "appraisers" who they suspect are doing that. When you go to register at the desk they will deny you and send you back home to go get a "proper one". Happened to a buddy of mine.

Interesting, so they've closed that loophole.

If the car has a book value, then Service Ontario uses that as the price for the HST calculation, or the price on the bill of sale, whichever is higher. If the car is older than 25 years old, then you need an appraisal on the value of the car and you pay HST on whatever it's appraised at. If the...

So they excluded all the problem people, gave those who were down on their luck some money, and the results were positive. Shocking! Lol. There is definitely a case to made for separating these groups. Though I wonder how a program like that would scale, sounds like it's ripe for abuse.

Has the city lost it's mind...

If we're powerless to lock people like this up in an institution (where this person undoubtedly belongs), then there's 0 chance we fix our homeless problem. Two sides of the same coin...

    900,000 students coming in…

2/3 major federal political parties wouldn't even be able to come up with a list of what acceptable behaviour is (we're a post-national state, remember). That in and of itself is depressing.

    900,000 students coming in…

Funny you mention that. Many Indian managers/franchisees (think McDonalds/Wal-Mart/Timmies/etc.) love to hire international students from India because they can exploit them. Also no need to speak English when you can speak to your employees exclusively in Hindi. And then they bring this kinda...

    900,000 students coming in…

A failure of both levels of government: the province is totally lax about diploma mills and the feds rubber stamp any student visa. In the end we normal people pay the price...

    DoFo

Considering it was a Liberal government at the time demonstrates that the corruption in this province runs beyond party lines.

Teachers threaten to strike like every other year, lol. Have the radio ads started yet?

Sad that DoFo is our least offensive option right now too.

    Brake Replacement for CX-5

An important thing with brake pads is that they fit into the caliper properly. A risk you run with aftermarket pads is that they (and the hardware they come with) don't 100% fit into the caliper. Which means you need to grind/shave/adjust the ears of the pads a bit to make it work. Not a huge...
