detroit is in a weird spot. i looked it up and they are something like 3rd in the entire US for how expensive airbnb and hotels are. NYC is fourth!
as for downtown, it was dead people-wise but the actual area looked pretty decent for a downtown core. then again i was also there on a monday lol.
i dont think i saw any! it was a nice area though. would have chilled a bit longer but i was already behind schedule. every time i think im gonna leave early in the morning for a ride i always end up leaving...not in the early morning lol.
back from detroit (on bike). it was fine! bike still in my possession!
the filmore venue is insane.
took the sarnia route and stopped off at the bluewater bridge for some pulled pork poutine. yep mostly straight highway riding but with very little traffic so it was fine. slight 10 minute...
just for kicks i was gonna try on a helmet i had bought back in 2014. turns out the glue(?) that keeps the foam in place was pretty much gone and the entire foam headshell portion literally just popped out lol.
i have the revit mesh jacket but am still concerned with the way i look so i bought the black one, which is obviously the complete opposite of what you want it to do. ahh well! as long as you're constantly moving it works great though.
honestly my favourite thing about the scrambler is how incredibly light it is for a semi-retro inspired style bike. any time i'm on a heavier bike (like my royal enfield 650) and then go back to the scrambler, it feels like i'm tossing around a bicycle.
the triumph definitely doesn't feel as...
my nexus application has been sitting in a queue since june 2022 lol. although i had no idea it helped with land crossings too. i thought it was only for air travel!
purpose is to get to a concert venue in detroit for the night! definitely not a planned trip specifically for a nice bike ride or anything.
sounds like main road it is!
coming from west end of toronto.
also curious which border should i try to get across? the one up at sarnia or the tunnel? this would be on an early monday morning/afternoon.
yep! and depends on the bike. i picked the triumph for 180$ a day.
you do have to have a credit card authorization hold as well ($2500 at least for that bike. not sure if that changes if you choose another)
i almost made it to pemberton lol. but i was a cheap bastard and also was keeping an eye on the ODO. i came back to BC Cycles literally at 295km so didnt have to pay any overages haha.
i also had to use a free rental helmet. grosss.
you can get the MTO site to send you a reminder via email/text etc. but then again their pure incompetence might **** that up too.
i liked the refund but i agree. the little handout to appease voters probably cost us ALL a lot more in the longer run. but who cares when beer is a buck right!?
