OPP air enforcement in Dufferin / Caledon

That section just west of Airport Road was recently reduced from 70 kph to 50 kph due to resident complaints. The section between 10 and the gravel pit entrance is also a heavily patrolled 50 kph and school zone. My last ticket in my car was in 2020 on Hockley Valley Road near the church across...

    Speeding - Would You Fight?

My last ticket was in September 2020 in my car. This was in the first year of Covid, so going to court was not really an option at that point. The officer had reduced the speed to 15 over and since there were no points involved, I just paid the ticket online. There was no effect on my car...

    Grocery store boycott

I will continue to shop where I find the best specials. If Zehrs/No Frills has what I need for the best price, that's where I'm going. We don't have many choices here in Orangeville (Zehrs, No Frills, Sobeys, Freshco, Metro and Walmart). It takes just a few minutes to drive between any of them...

    Brampton.. Just why?

I retired 13 years ago and can count on one hand how many times I have driven back into downtown TO since then. The last time was for an Elton John show at the ACC in September 2018 and by the time we got to the venue and finally into the building we had missed the first few songs! We had left...

    Brampton.. Just why?

Last weekend we hit a tile store, Stone Road Mall and the Royal Tent sale. There are also a few nice roads between here and there so the drive or ride is nice as well.

    Brampton.. Just why?

It should be no surprise that they pay the highest vehicle insurance premiums in the Province. Between the new drivers who come up to Orangeville to get licensed, the aggressive drivers and blatant fraudsters, it's a wonder any company would insure want to do business in that city. We used to...

    The first $100 oil change.

I just paid $66.99 for a 4L jug of i-PONE 10.4 full synthetic at Royal Distributing during their no tax/tent sale. When the total came up my wife asked how much was that! At least there was no tax. I bought a Mobil1 filter a few weeks ago at a Walmart in Orlando. It was US$12, so with exchange...

    Kijiji scammer alert

While the deposit might give peace of mind to some, I will never e-transfer a deposit. I've heard of too many times where these sellers take that money and vanish. I want to see the item first and complete the transaction right then and there, in cash. The background check was a surprise since...

    Kijiji scammer alert

15K, wow, that is desperate! And I was questioning why I should have to pay $41 of my money to get a criminal records check as part of the job application process to get a part time job with a turf maintenance company! BTW, it's the first time I've ever been asked to provide one of those in...

What's the dumbest question someone has ever asked you about your motorcycle?

The answer to that one is "Never too old".

    General question about insurance

Well if I have an at fault accident and a dirtbag tow company takes away the wreckage of my bike, they can keep it. I will have no further use of it and I wouldn't waste my time and money trying to fix it anyway. If the collision was the other persons fault, well then that's what a bike accident...

    General question about insurance

I still have the required minimums. On older vehicles it just doesn't make financial sense to have collision coverage. Fire and theft is more of a value judgement, but as I said a 27 year old bike really isn't worth much and would likely get a minimal pay out from insurance. The first few years...

    General question about insurance

I've looked at the cost for each of those coverages. At one time I had fire & theft on the ST. However, I dropped it about five years ago because, let's face it, who is going to steal a 1997 ST1100 with over 180K km on it. I mean really, I tried selling it a couple of years ago for $1500 and had...

    Minimum wage spin offs

Actually yes, and that is just one option available to corporations. They will continue to reduce staff, increase prices, close less profitable stores and or automate. The automated versions are already in use in some places. Why do you think McDonalds brought in those self serve ordering...

    Total eclipse - April 8 2024

I thought it was just me. From all the hype around it I was beginning to think I must be the only one.

    General question about insurance

If your vehicle has a bank loan on it you are probably required to have collision coverage on it by your lender. If the vehicle is older, or has no bank loan you can choose to drop the collision portion. Downside is that any damage caused where you are at fault, your vehicle repairs are not...

    Minimum wage spin offs

Do you really think that any corporate company will sacrifice profits? I don't believe that will ever happen.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I never change them until late April and I put my snows on before the end of October, because Orangeville! I watched the guy across the street put his summer tires on over the weekend.:ROFLMAO: I guess some people either don't look at the weather forecast, or choose not to believe it. I was...

    These Toronto politicians

It's not that difficult to make most of the Toronto Council members look like idiots. They do it to themselves regularly.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I'm looking for the other painted line. It looks to me like the truck is not parked in an actual spot, but rather in the driving lane. See attached for what can happen when you park in a non-spot. That space is hatched out because trucks need the area to reach the loading dock.
