The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

How do you leave the scene of an accident and not provide insurance information? I was told opening a door into traffic was an automatic charge of obstructing traffic, or fail to yield. Then, causing an accident with injuries and just leaving, well that adds leaving the scene as well. Maybe...

How much do you pay for insurance?

Well I have a slightly different angle here. Back in 2021 I cancelled my insurance when I received a renewal quote of nearly $1000 for the year. I had received a 15km over speeding ticket the previous fall in my car and was apparently now the least wanted insurance customer in that company's...

    Advice on purchasing new tires?

I just ordered a pair of Bridgestone Battlax T32s for my ST1100, (110/80 and 160/70). I've found these tires to be a great choice for my heavy Honda and this will be my fourth set. I also recommend Pete's! His prices were very competitive and the service was fast. I placed the order last Monday...

    Spring motorcycle show

I haven't been to a bike show since about 2018 and I've never been to the Auto Show. These shows have priced themselves beyond what I consider to be a reasonable value and, as you mention, I don't have to go. I seriously doubt there are enough people who are as frugal as me, so these shows are...

    Spring motorcycle show

I bought my tickets online a few weeks before the show and I think there was a seniors rate applied. Perhaps the bike shows should consider a similar discount, but with so many older riders, I guess that would cut into the profits. The swap was much larger than "50 pairs of skis a store...

    Spring motorcycle show

Not my problem. If the rent is so high how did the Ski Show, also held at the International Centre, manage to operate and only charge $10 last fall? The thing that gets me is that both the vendors and the public are paying the promoter who is operating the "show". The promoter then pays to...

    Spring motorcycle show

I feel that $20 is far too much for admission into any of these "shows". I've always wondered why they even charge admission to come to what is essentially an indoor flea market, with a few new vehicles on display. The last show I attended was the Ski Show last fall. It was much smaller than...

    Canada post rant

It that's the case this CMB must be moved because it's on the side of the street that is signed as "No Parking". The carrier must park illegally in order to be located on the same side of the road directly in front of the CMB. If they are required to park legally, they would need to cross the...

    Canada post rant

Well they should re-evaluate this location because the carrier, who uses their own personal vehicle in our area, must park illegally while at the box. In addition, everyone who stops on their way home to collect their mail is also required to park illegally. I would guess that the route...

    Canada post rant

It's better in there than all over my lawn! Our 'superbox' is located on my side yard and I'm the guy that has to go around and pick up all that crap that no one seems to want. I may need to put one of my blue boxes next to the superbox and hope my neighbours put their unwanted junk mail into...

This all sounds great, but has no chance of happening in Ontario!

What I'm wondering is that the story suggests he stopped the first time on Williams Parkway. Did no one check his licence, or did he smooth talk his way out of that stop? According to the report, along with the other charges, he's also charged with driving while under suspension. I hope he...

And here I thought all the Brampton drivers came up to Orangeville to get the easy non-400 series road test!

I lived just west of Islington until the late '70s and remember a devastating crash into that same tree with similar results. If you're travelling at twice the speed limit, there is very little room for error on that slight curve.

    Seen a red breasted robin

A bit early for them up here in Orangeville. Poor buggers would starve or freeze to death in a day or two. No food to be found because of the deep blanket of snow we have. It's a good sign they are starting to migrate back north though. Edit: I have to retract my earlier comment. A robin landed...

    Traffic planning anyone

That's the Toronto Traffic Plan, piss off all the motorists so they stay away! Between the bike lanes, ludicrous low speed limits (30kph wtf) and construction closures/lane restrictions, getting around Toronto in a vehicle has become a nightmare. I'm glad I retired 11 years ago and no longer...

How much do you pay for insurance?

If you like the SV650 and need legroom, why not try a DL650? Same engine and lots of legroom. I know the looks of the bike might not be everyones taste, but it would fit you better and the insurance cost should be much less.

    Canada post rant

^This was the case with the superbox at our last house. In the first few years we lived there, we never had a package delivered into the box. It was an older unit with limited parcel boxes and 41 units in our townhouse development, so the carrier probably knew how many parcels could be delivered...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

They are also the most aggressive drivers out there and most of they likely got their "A" licence from one of those sketchy Truck Driving Schools! I've had two instances where a gravel truck exiting the pit at Hockley Road and 5 Sideroad failed to stop at the stop sign before going straight onto...

In this case the driver was caught driving under suspension twice in two days! That is pretty cut and dried. I'm no supporter of HTA172, but when suspended drivers repeatedly continue driving against court orders, I have no issue with the a roadside impound. They already had their day in court...
