The Ontario Tail of the Dragon

On that note, would you classify the Kananaskis loop as the AB TOD? (I have ridden that on a rented Harley)

The Ontario Tail of the Dragon

Agreed, 129 is definitely not the TOD but it is one of the nearest that we have in ON [emoji1]

The Ontario Tail of the Dragon

Fuelled up at a reservation gas bar, cost me 20 cents/litre less than the Esso ahead. How do they manage that, is the quality of gas and the calibration of the dispensers the same as those on the "outside"?

The Ontario Tail of the Dragon

Anyone done the 129 (Wawa and Espanola, are the nearest cities at either end) Plenty of curves, gradients, straights and decent paving, good scenery, no gas stations tho'. Wildlife? if you are lucky, black bear and moose (unlucky, if those animals impact you!)

    Hearing loss

Once its gone, its gone and even the best hearing aids are no match for the natural. As MacDoc has testified, HAs work well in a quiet environment and not so well in a room full of jabbering humans. And you know what, it is the same with IOLs, you trade one set of problems for another. Though, I...

    900,000 students coming in…

From the Globe and Mail and C D Howe institute. The number of temporary residents in Canada swelled to 2.8 million in the first quarter, underscoring the challenge facing a federal government that is looking to restrict migration to the country. Temporary residents – a group that includes...

Did they legalize lane-splitting/filtering or is it 'do as I say...'?

Lane filtering is becoming a fact of (road) life now. While on the bike, a cabbie driving a van "filtered" past me - my fault, as I was maintaining lane safety (riding on the right side of the lane). While in a car, a guy on a Duc going down between two lanes to get to the front, unsafe as it...

Inexpensive option for a quality dashcam

Just got a Thinkware F200 Pro fitted for an all-inclusive $400, front and rear cams on a hardwired installation. Nothing fancy, just the essentials - good picture under day or night conditions - voltage sensor to save the vehicle battery - monitoring during "park" - heat sensor, to save the cam...

CVMG 50th Annual Vintage Motorcycle Rally, June14-15-16, 2024

Was there last year, enjoyed checking out the vintage and classic bikes. The exhibitors were willing to chat and answer questions. Some would even start up their bikes just so you could experience the sound of a motor from bygone times.

    Picked up a VW

The sale of that car was a mistake for me to, especially since I had the overlay of the Audi program on the CPU and a stage 1 chip by Pfaff and a tuned exhaust. It was a Q-ship!

    Picked up a VW

Many dealers are selling used cars uncertified and they (the honest ones!) are upfront about it, stating that the car is "as-is". When I owned a 2.5 Rabbit (the 5 cyl model) my go-to shop was Techmaxx Auto in 'Sauga. They specialize in the german makes.

    What are you reading?

Reading about Canada's heroic defence of it's assigned beach, "Holding Juno" by Mark Zuehlke. The book is a great presentation with amazing detail on what happened 80 years ago on this day.

    Friendly Reminder to Wear ATGATT

Sorry to hear, GWS. The bike resto looks faultless, it is a shame that the effort is wasted. Hope that you get fair compensation for both your injury and the bike. What was the perp's story on the cause of the accident?

    What are you reading?

Just finished reading "The making of a Canadian Sniper", applaud the persistence and courage of Jody Mitic! Edit: he ended up being a double amputee (both legs) and to enable him to ride, Harley made him a bike with a push button handlebar shifter. Possibly a Barrie Harley dealer was involved in...

    Steel cutting.

All this tech talk is giving me a complex, during my apprenticeship I could not make a straight cut and even now I cannot slice bread with slices of even thickness [emoji12]

    Buying a 2018 BMW

Sorry, my bad - please disregard my post, I had mixed up the bikes. Yes, Motul 7100 is a good choice and no there is no clutch or final drive oil to change. Apologies [emoji17]

    Buying a 2018 BMW

If you are changing the g/box oil, then you may want to change the clutch oil and while you are at it, change the final drive oil. Stick to the specs and you'll be fine. John Parker (Budds BMW) recommends dino motor oil for the R9T engine and apparently BMW in Canada re-badges the Castrol 10W30...
