    Anyone here a cyclist?

How big are ya? I trigger all of them (5'11" 190lbs) on the way to my son's school. There's also one just past Wiarton (Colpoy's Bay) in a downhill stretch on the way to the family cottage. My record so far is 73, confirmed by Strava. 🙃

Decathlon sells decent shoes that accept both 2- and 3-bolt cleats. I got my SPD shoes from them. I use Shimano shoes with Look cleats at the track and on longer endurance rides.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

One thing I'll say - if you go, plan to get a pair of 3-bolt clipless shoes since they don't have any regular SPD pedals and you're not allowed to bring your own. SPD-SL or Look cleats only. One guy showed up with his SPD shoes and he was given a bike with crappy old pedal cages that broke...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Yah, it's just $35 for 2 hours. Families go in the stands now - the inner field is filled with multi-use courts. The whole place was in use yesterday and the intro program was full. Seems to be a big success story for the city so far. 👍

Do it! It's just 35 bucks for 2 hours and that includes a nice rental bike. The facility is amazing.

I went to the Milton velodrome today to do their Try the Track session. Had a total blast 🥳 Going back next weekend to start the track certification process, which consists of four 90-min sessions spread over two weekends. I have no idea where I'm going with this. I don't really care for...

Curious about side hustles around here.

I've been making electric guitar pickups for the last 4 years, on top of my old freelance gig as a content editor/producer/translator. The guitar thing fluctuates between being a side hustle and my main source of income, with summer being relatively quiet and winter being very busy. Prior to...

"The first generation Taurus SHO (1989 - 1991) can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds with a quarter mile time of 15.0-15.2 seconds" Not bad at all

My memory is failing me but I assume that they were alloys, otherwise I would've lost all of them on the potholed streets of Montreal. I'm surprised to learn that its power to weight ratio is almost exactly the same as that of my 2020 Nissan Kicks with its 122-hp 4-banger. I would've bet a lot...

    First cars

My grandpa's 1988 Ford Taurus in a beige-ish champagne color with beige seats. The Beigemobile. The main thing I remember is the digital speedo/dashboard which seemed to be from the future. What a machine.

    Apple warning

I messed up my old Huawei P20 Pro that way. I kept it when I upgraded so it's now my dedicated Waze device on the bike. I also use it as my pedal-bike computer. I turn on Mobile Hotspot on the new Samsung Galaxy that's in my pocket and off I go.

    What gear do you wear?

-Arai Signet-Q -Dainese 4 Stroke shorties -Alpinestars leather jacket, forget the model. I upgraded the protectors with CE level 2 stuff. -8 and 10 hole Docs (sue me) My gear is worth more than my bike.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Yeah my Wahoo Tickr X crapped out during the ride, first time it happens. I'm typically in the high 160s at the end of this segment. And yeah KOM is a bit of a misnomer, but that's what they call every fastest time over any type of segment. (CR is Course Record and is reserved for runners.)

My parting gift to Owen Sound - an improved KOM 🥳 Beat my old KOM by 3s. 800m mostly flat (0.6% grade) sprint in light gravel. Not sure why I kick butt at it. Anyway, come at me, b***** 🙃 I'm moving to the big leagues (TO) in a couple days, that'll be interesting.

Swapped it for a regular butyl tube. Can't find the leak in the latex one.

Rear is flat already. One ride in. #facepalm I may have pinched the latex tube on installation, but I also remember the rear throwing a massive pebble sideways at a house nearby. It sounded awful.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I know, but the stock 23mm Ultra Sports seemed super close to the brake calipers already, and when I emailed Kona the guy who replied wasn't confident that 25mm would fit. The 23mm GP5000s seem a bit smaller than the Ultra Sports, but they still run super close to the calipers. I do notice that...
