    What are you reading?

Books I recently finished in random order Fountainhead by Ayn Rand - I liked most of the book, except the ending which seriously goes off the rails. I don’t agree with Rand’s social philosophy, and the book made me seriously think she’s a psychopath, but it’s a pretty entertaining read...

If you have an e-reader, seems to be available for download from ”places”

    TV shows currently watching

That’s the border between Chile and Argentina on the Chilean side, totally insane. Very close to Aconcagua Mountain which is the tallest mountain outside of Asia. If you drive/bus between Santiago, Chile, and Mendoza, Argentina you pass through there.

    Older tires and certification

It’s a grey area. The regulations don’t mention tire age at all, or even dry cracking, unless it’s so deep that there are cords visible. Saying that, I had a discussion with a government MTO officer that was doing a spot check some years ago about this very question. According to him shops are...

    TV shows currently watching

Poker Face - Easy and entertaining show from Rian Johnson (Knives Out). Similar style to old Matlock, Columbo, whodunits but with better writing.

Help to choose next Language to learn

I love the sound of Portuguese, it’s a really pretty language. Words are very similar to Spanish, but the pronunciation is completely different (cerveza in Spanish, cerveja in Portuguese pronounced cervejha). Spent two months in Brazil and tried my best to learn a bit and got nowhere even with...

Bikes of Buenos Aires - Police and Regular ones

Was there for a couple weeks in December, ie summer there, would not recommend. Was oppressively hot with humidity. Had a week with daily highs in the mid 30’s Did see a fair amount of big GS’s and KTM’s though.

    garmin zumo xt?

I love traffic on my 595. It’s not quite as good as waze, but it’s not far off. I have had it give me traffic alerts for accidents that obviously just happened. My assumption is they use the same service for their big rig gps’s and they obviously need reliable traffic updates. EDIT: Also the...

    garmin zumo xt?

Another option is the Zumo 590/595. The 590 firmware can be upgraded fairly easily to 595 and otherwise they're identical. Also they have support for Garmin's TPMS which the XT removed. Here's a 590 on kijiji for $450 OBO, might be a good deal...

Are you old enough to remember these motorcycle shops in To?

Trying to comb my memory for the name of a shop in Etobicoke/Mississauga ~15 years ago. Was a one man show, had great deals on closeout Shark helmets and sold that cheap import brand that was popular and then disappeared that had cheap/nice kangaroo leather gloves and other rebranded stuff...

    Honda VFR1200 or ST1300

I liked my 2nd gen FZ1 but it’s not a great tourer. Fuel tank is way too small is the biggest issue, you’re looking at 250km max from full to dead empty. Also while the ergos are not terrible, they are pretty tight, especially in the knees. OP, you didn’t mention it but figured I would throw...

Amazon to lay off 10,000 employees.

That’s the Musk excuse. The reality is that there has been no police report filed and the only source of that info is from Musk himself. Given that his kid was assumingly in a Tesla, I would think there would be video from all of the cameras on the car that are used like a dashcam and constantly...

    Best Battery Charger

Same, and I've actually never had to replace the battery outside of the one in my current bike that was weak to begin with. Don't take care of my batteries either. Leave the bike as is over the winter and plug it in for a couple days before the weather warms up in the spring

    Has anyone seen ToSlow?

Speaking of missing people, I wonder about Chinese characters guy, hope he’s doing alright. For me, I enjoy forums though I don’t post a ton. Great repository of information and community. I just can’t do Facebook or god forbid Tik Tok

    Waterproof and Somewhat Warm Gloves

My klim badlands gtx gloves have been waterproof so far, but they are insulated and on the bulky side so I only wear them when I absolutely need to. Much prefer my standard thin Held (no idea what model) gauntlet gloves paired with heated grips.

    Your first helmet

Shoei TZ-R bought from Cycle World East. Not sure about the graphics, but I think it might have looked like this. It still exists somewhere in my friend's garage
