The Bad Riders of Ontario Thread

I might be an old man yelling a clouds, but... Those riders I saw just now on the QEW near Mississauga Road had to be going 180kmh, weaving in and out between cars... Dark, crappy pavement, who knows what construction crap lying in the road Faaawwwwwwk....

    Buying gear from Europe

Bought a Shoei Neotec II last year. Here in Canada at the time the lowest price I could find was $1050 plus tax. Shipped to my door in five days for $750 Cdn. all in from Italy. 'Came via regular mail so no BS "brokerage fees"

Pause from Riding because you have Kids!

I took a 17 year hiatus from riding while my kids where growing up. Don't look at it as "giving something up", but rather focusing on what's important. Spend as much time as you can with your children... They grow up so quick. On the bright side... 'By the time they're out of high school you'll...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

That would require some humility and self awareness... 'Problem is, some public servants don't see themselves as such. I've messed up and/or exercised less than perfect judgement on many occasions over my career and pretty much every time and acknowledgement and apology ended it. Personally I...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

People wouldn't believe how Homolka was treated while in custody at the TWDC. I suppose being the linch pin in the the crown's case buys you some favour.

Worth it to move up in cc?

It's only money. Call around and maybe you'll find a better rate for the coverage you want. One good thing about being an older rider is that the cost of insurance isn't a deal breaker based on what bike you have. None of my "mature" riding friends pay more than $1000/yr. For their litre+...

    Todays ride is over.

'Must have been a "puckering" experience if it happened at speed... 'Kinda makes me love my shaft drive more :-)

    Wrecked hard on Tuesday

Open the thread and when I read OP was starting his trip from Hamilton, I assumed he crashed because he hit a pothole... This story just goes to prove that old biker saying about riding as if everyone is out to kill you. Good luck OP, 'hope you get back to normal quickly.

Does the Garmin 396 just suck?

My 396 has served me well. I haven't experienced any of the issues OP has mentioned. I often use Basecamp to create routes, and although kinda clumsy to navigate, it works. I think were spoiled though... Does anyone remember the days all we had was a paper map you could never fold back up properly?

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

I remember buying peel regional's surplus revolvers from them... Probably early to mid 1980s... 'Still have two of them. S&W mod. 10 and a mod. 15.

    Where to get railroad ties

Ties average 150 - 200 lbs each... 'Kinda hard to scoop unless you're determined. 'Easier, safer to just buy and have delivered. The old wooden ties are a toxic nightmare.
