Ummmmm....
If its a Lee Enfield No.4 'T' (Long Branch), complete and intact, he's got something quite valuable there.
Worth enough that there are those who try to fake them.
Do some research.
That hasn't been my experience...
As far as locating... 'Few years ago the rear axle on my F150 snapped somewhere in somewhat rural Missouri...
I didn't really know where I was, but they somehow ping'd my cell phone and were able to direct the tow truck operator to my location.
'Gotta be self reliant.
Failing that you can usually rely on the kindness of strangers.
Or... if you don't mind really wimping out get yourself that gold tier CAA membership :)
That's a good way to look at it... Ride as long as YOU want to.
Stop when and where YOU want to.
No drawn out discussion on where/what to eat/where to stay...
All that and... you can be that mysterious stranger that blows into/out of town...
For sure... It's like "I never have to do that again!"
I'm not so sure the present system is any better than back when all you had to do was demo a few skills in the MoT parking lot and have the examiner watch you ride down to the corner and back.
Sure, maybe make the riding safety course...
All my trips to BC have been solo except for one.
Even when I drive I go alone.
When I fly though... I'm usually with at least one hundred other people, but I don't know any of them personally.
Slightly off topic, but... I recently noticed that the price on a new FJR1300 is the same as it was in 2016.
So I guess the price on the greatest sport-tourer ever built has actually dropped considerably given inflation and all the other forces at work to increase the cost of consumer goods.
What's the most distant point you have piloted your bike from your garage/home/regular parking spot..?
Whether it took a day, a week, a month or longer... How far has it been away from home.
Me... roughly 4200km from my house to Penticton BC. 4x
