Riding during stay at home order.

Anyone ponder how so many of these recent motorcycle accidents, have lead to death once in Hospital? esp given the new orders to stop elective surgeries and doctors having the right to decide who lives, and who dies. This is just speculation (and last year, and this year, I lost 2 relatives to...

Best sport touring bikes for long distance

The plus side to the ADV bikes is the height, more space to move around (longer seats), wider handlebars, less bent knees etc... That height has a small drawback, on windy says, esp sidewinds, just throw me around like a toy cause of the extra height. The grey area bikes for these are the...

The model in the pic that was posted, was a fully spec'd out one. Also, as there aren't used options for the new ones, add tax, dealer fees, and such to the price. Even a 2020 last year stock base model, with $1.5k incentives, is close to $18.8-19k OTD. A 2021 AS, DCT, close to $24.2k otd. I...

Not to mention, that bike is close to $23k+, more for the tubeless option version. I think they make the AT look dirt oriented, however the new one at 1100cc, and over 500lbs, will have most keep it on street and light gravel. The previous model, was more simple and basic

    D30 or SAS-TEC back protection

Both options are decent, I have some SAS-TEC stuff, much stiffer, and I mostly use the new ventilated V2 D30 Stuff. Forcefield make a good back protector, much stiffer than either of the other 2. https://fortnine.ca/en/forcefield-pro-lite-k-back-insert

How much ground clearance does one need for mainly street touring? One can say hardside luggage interferes with the width and aerodynamics. Having Center stands on the CBX and T7, off-road, none gave any ground clearance issues let alone on the road

Ah okay, makes sense, the 21in front wheel for mostly street, even makes getting good touring street tires difficult. The S10 is a boring looking bike, I agree, doesn't do it for me either. I haven't ridden either though.

any reason the Africa Twin, or even Super Tenere are off the list? The S10, has a driveshaft, more upright, more power, and much more affordable than a GS. I believe more payload capacity too https://www.kijiji.ca/v-street-cruisers-choppers/guelph/2013-yamaha-super-tenere/m844808

other thing is, do you like or need a center stand? Some of those models you listed don't have center stand options. I find loading the bike, parking it to take up less space, chain maintenance, repairs, and even for security (Up on the stand, wheel turned and locked, bike can't be pushed...

Forget the 800s, I know a guy who had a few before getting the T7. The motor wasn't friendly in many regards, esp for basic off-road stuff, and the electronics always came in the way. He just sold his second one after given them a chance again and again

All your choices are great. Too bad the T7 isn't on your list and maybe underpowered, if you ever want to test ride one, let me know :) The Tracer 900 has some nice touches, and having owned a Suzuki, Honda, KTM, and a Yammie. I'm biased towards Yamaha's, great motors with life and torque...

ICE motorcycles, the end is near?

And don't people use a heater in the winter? - In the city all these will be fine, head into Canada's interior, or out west, or even further up north, and even 20% less range due to the cold, plus the added loss of the heater, adds up really quick. On top of that, some remote areas don't have...

ICE motorcycles, the end is near?

The biggest challenge with Canada, and I'm sure some scandinavian ones have this too, is the cold and snow. Battery life can drop to less than half, and deteriorate very fast. Self driving cars do not work in the snow, as the lines they use get covered by snow banks. Considering almost half a...
