    Anyone here a cyclist?

    Anyone here a cyclist?

It is the constant quest for marginal gains at the elite level. Good or bad these trickle down...if the pros use (or do) this then it must make me better.... As for being clipped in, when I started riding (motorcycle) it was actually a bit weird to me not being clipped in on two wheels...

    And then there were two…

I don't see a plate on the bike. So either it is super tucked or there isn't one. That may be a sign of why they did not stop???

    Portable 10" table saw

The home depot cuts.... The blade IME is usually so dull the chipout is terrible, accuracy is usually pretty good. I only (rarely) use the service to break something down to get it in the car, I have them cut it oversized then I final trim with a sharp blade at home. Another thing to consider...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

While real masons may shudder at this technique, I do it wearing Nitrile/Grease Monkey gloves I use a float or hawk to hold the mortar and my fingers to push it in. Replace gloves as they fail. Go back and finish it with the tools afterwards.

Bicycle specific lights are not uncommon when there is a bidirectional bike lane on one side of the road like in the picture.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I installed this window on the weekend. It is on the second floor and between the two houses. I did 95%+ of the entire install hanging out of the opening as I do not like working from ladders. I moved a wall inside that is why it is not centred and I needed a smaller window (the wall landed...

    Portable 10" table saw

I have a Mastercraft Maximum 10" for maybe 15 years (not sure, maybe more). They are finicky to set up. The cross cut/mitre fence is super sloppy and basically unusable out of the box (a common problem with many jobsite saws, a place to do some research). Other than cross cut, with a good blade...

    How Did We Get Here

The critical thinking sniff test, most public schools in Ontario don't go back until September. There are exceptions but that should have raised a flag alone when the "buddy at work was telling me that his kid in school, Milton..." was just telling this yarn in mid August. Buddy needs the...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Likely "sealed" bearing assemblies not at all hard to swap out just watch a couple youtube videos. You may also need a cone wrench (thin wrench). Some people just tap them in but you can make a poorman's bearing press with some threaded rod, washers, nuts and the right sized sockets.

    COVID and the housing market

A buddy had an unconditional sale fall through. Lawyer said take the deposit, don't waste your time trying to get more as you almost never actually get the money. Lucky for my buddy, it sold right away for more than the first guy was going to pay, so a double win for him.

    Land tax

I doubt the houses will be feasible after a couple of years being boarded up/vacant, even if construction does zero damage... Assuming no squatters try to move in and trash the place. Assuming no tweakers steal all the copper trashing the place. Two+ years of demolition by neglect with respect...

    Land tax

That is a different one. The 25 houses on Pape were actually told they were not going to be, until just now--being served notice with a Nov 2025 date to be out....

    Land tax

Another rub for these people. You have to be out by Nov 25 (so not "two years"), maybe one year and a bit if they get the offers all done and closed by November (it is a government organization...). Now there are potentially (up to) 25 households looking to buy in the area, all at once. The...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

When hanging bicycles, anything with cable brakes can be hung in any position. Hydraulic brakes *can* get some air issues if hung upside down. It is not hard and fast and from my experience it takes a while (it is from sitting like this for an extended period, not just being flipped over for a...

    Land tax

What is the fair value of something you don't want to sell? The regular owners (that live there) will have to deal with double land transfer tax (municipal, provincial) is they buy something else. The cost of moving, the potential minor "mechanical" renos on another like property that may...

    Windshield Recommendations

With that much windshield, maybe a Miata would have been a better lifestyle fit :)

    Windshield Recommendations

Fit will depend on how adjustable the clamps are on the bars and you "ability" to trim the windscreen to clear gauges and the headlight.
