    Auto-renewing plates question

They will send you a letter for plates they cannot/didn't renew.... I got the letter for two cars I scrapped in recent years and a motorcycle I still own but have taken off the road. It did not say why but my guess is these vehicles did not pass their insurance test. As for paperwork, yeah...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

We gutted a bathroom last week. All I have to say is the SDS with a wide chisel bit is the bomb when it comes to removing real tile!

    Anyone here a cyclist?

On my "gravel bike" I run Vittoria Terreno Zero (which is a slick IMO) and I have been very happy with them. The gravel bike gets used on single track, gravel and pavement (tends to get the most kms a year for me as it does near everyting). No punctures so far (running tubes) not the lowest in...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

For post holes, I know people can be "violently opposed" to digging by hand but... When doing just a handful a good technique with the hand clam-shell digger is to take a sawzall first with a pruning blade (my go-to for many things) and run it around inside the hole, then dig out that loose...

Repairing / replacing carbon fibre shell of exhaust

If going the resin route the resin needs to be UV resistant otherwise it will yellow and fail... The temp rating must also be high enough for this application.

Repairing / replacing carbon fibre shell of exhaust

In the pics the CF doesn't look too bad. They likely have a high temp clear over the CF, I would be tempted to give them a really good cleaning and then a light wet sand and hitting them again with some high temp clear.

New Highway 413 Yea or Nay?

AFAIK there is a clause but possibly the 413 is far enough away to not matter? I also believe there were limits on (how much) QEW expansion through Burlington and Oakville... at the same time I am not looking at the contract. And given recent noise, the province would be screaming bloody murder...

    The 2024 Great GTAM Blackout

I looked into home back-up in depth a few times. In the city, worse case in the last 20 years has been a couple of days, inconvenient yes, but I can deal with that. This one was maybe 4 hours for us. If I had power to my boiler to run it, that is all I likely really need during an ice storm...

    Trump Guilty

https://www.foxnews.com/us/iran-accusations-plot-kill-trump-unsubstantiated-malicious It was apparently considered a threat prior to the shooting (intelligence in recent weeks from a human source...), but to be fair there is likely always something in the wind. That is the problem with...

    Trump Guilty

Specially that there was some Iran threat in the wind (but isn't there always?). At at the same time I also think most people and odds makers were shocked at which candidate was actually shot at. Monday morning QBing and all... Also, how much of the team was picked (for lack of better term) by...

    Trump Guilty

While one would hope everyone in the SS is at the same level, I do expect that the current president gets the superstars and it goes down from there. Also most of the go getters would want the cool job career wise. I see no difference when it comes to any agency or even private sector everyday...

    The 2024 Great GTAM Blackout

The redesign as I understand it was not intended to protect the area the DVP flooded, it is to protect areas a little more downstream of that.

    Heads Up--Toronto Water Meter Issues

Apparently the transmission units are failing so the city cannot read many, many, many water meters. The first issue is potentially delayed bills which means you may get a future huge bill as it covers multiple bills they couldn't read/send. People cry about this one but they are not over...

    Stock up on that liquor!

Local Wine Rack's inventory is pretty thin, maybe about 20% of the normal stock yesterday.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Are you sure the soffits are not bricked up to the roof deck and "sealed" by design? I believe your house is double brick and that was a common method. Over the years some mortar may have cracked and they may be letting in some air but they were never intended to be vented like a modern home. So...

They can tear-up the speeding charge. No plates likely also means no insurance etc. Plenty to stick them with.

    The Tax Thread

I did pretty good playing the tax changes... Canadian market sell off before the CG change. I bought in on June 24th... 2:1 ETF.

    Sportrack vs thule vs yakima

When I had the cycling racks on the top of my car this was always a worry for me, never happened. Luckily you also don't leave the bikes up there all the time... Was the box in use at the time, if not how hard are they to add and remove to only be there when in use (like going camping, on a...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Tubeless is great... most experienced avid cyclists will say go for it, game changer. BUT for the average casual cyclist IMO it is more work and can be frustrating, I would keep the tubes in this context. The bike sits for a year and the sealant is dried up. The tires are flat after a couple of...

    Sportrack vs thule vs yakima

People ask me why I always buy dented up used cars. I tell them it is to save my wife the time and effort.... PS, please don't tell my wife....
