Unfortunately Inglis is so busy that they have nobody they could send out and even if they did, apparently they don't have the Ducati computers or tools.
Interesting ! I happen to know Mike Inglis but I thought they didn't sell Ducati any more. Their website still lists being able to service Ducatis. In fact, I think the owner of the bike I'm looking at bought his bike from them.
I just sent Mike an email to see if they still service Ducati...
I haven't spoken to Giovanni yet - he said he would call. I don't know where he lives, but the seller is about 3-h west of Toronto so that could be prohibitive.
Anyone have a Ducati guy in the London area ?
GP Bikes did tell me that sometimes bikes will throw DES errors if it has been...
Thanks @Mad Mike. I appreciate the honest advice I've gotten from everyone here. I will say I trust the owner completely. I've met him, talked to him for an hour or more. He's a nice older fellow and would talk forever and a day with you about the bike. He said he developed arthritis, kept...
Would that be true even from a dealer?
Now I've started looking into this and seeing that "title washing" is a thing. Is there something I can do to protect myself here? I have the VIN.
Unfortunately for the Quebec bike a PPI is not possible as it is prohibitively far for me. The dealer said...
Yeah, you're right. I'm getting blinded by the beauty of the bike I've seen and maybe getting a little greedy. Could work out but probably won't.
What's re&re?
Telephone evaluation - so you can buy it yourself ? j/k. I appreciate the advice. Would you bite on the 2014 then, or any bike...
Thank you. As it turns out, I have reached out to both Ken and Giovanni. Both have replied to me, I tentatively scheduled to bring the bike by on Tuesday until I found out the owner and I were misunderstanding each other about his willingness to let me bring it to a mechanic while still...
Haven't bought it..... We settled on a price but now he's balking at me taking it for an inspection - doesn't want to assume the risk of me hauling it (even if I've paid him in full) and me returning the bike if don't like the number I get from the mechanic. I get where he's coming from, I...
I was wrong, it wasn't the oil drain bolt, it was a coolant drain bolt. He said he stripped it (over torqued) and then basically sealed it up with teflon (not JB Weld, I asked), and said he would flush coolant with a siphon. No sign of leaking.
Haven't bought (either) bike yet - I saw it a week or so ago, and have a deposit on another similar model.
Just talked to the owner again. I thought he was open to my picking up the bike and taking it for a look from a mechanic, but now it seems he is not. Even with full payment in hand, says...
To be fair, the owner developed health problems not too long after buying the bike which prevented him from riding and left it as a garage queen. Seals/Gaskets/fluids, that was what a service department told me when I described the situation. The bike itself looks mint. Even the panniers are...
Against all my better judgement, I'm looking at buying a 2011 Ducati that hasn't been ridden much - less than 15K kms and most of that probably in the first few years of ownership (only one owner). Bike looks mint and it is clear the owner has taken very good care of it and would start it a few...
I wasn't even thinking an indoor storage place was an option. How does that work - do you ride it out? That would work good for my road bike, but the dirt bikes would be a pain, what with all the hassle of lashing them down on my utility trailer (I really need to get some good chocks).
I would...
I appreciate that. I know that a determined thief is going to make out with my stuff if they want to. Our cottage does have a gate so anyone who is going to try and make off with a trailer would need to cut the chain on the lock - doable, to be sure. But near our cottage there are so many...
