What did you do in your garage today..?

Got my lawn tractor starting with new pump. Finding proper sized hose clamps for the fuel hose I was running was a PITA. So is working on things when all you have is a gravelly driveway with lots of leaves. Probably lost a half dozen little things that day. You guys with garages, recognize...

What did you do in your garage today..?

@Scuba Steve - Bought the pump you recommended. Got back to the cottage and played around a bit. First I connected some fuel line to the inlet of my OLD pump and stuck the other end in a cup of water. Alternated between drawing in and pushing out air to the impulse line. I could not draw...

Here's one reason why people hate motorcyclists

So.... organized crime? I bet they wish. I wonder if the RCMP has infiltrated with undercover officers wearing stupid furry helmet covers and thinking FML.

I never would have guessed. It looked impervious when I probed it.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Thanks @Scuba Steve ! Interesting. The item you linked to has a gold bumpy thing pointed to by the arrow. What is that? The OEM pump has the same thing which I assumed was some sort of branding. It didn’t look like it did anything, but now I am curious? Pulled up a few other random fuel...

Here's one reason why people hate motorcyclists

Seems like it couldn't be that hard for the cops to nail some of these guys. They would have been working their way through stop and go traffic for miles. Or a few choice cars just open their doors and block these f**ers in until the police come.

What did you do in your garage today..?

I replaced the impulse line with new fuel line. Impulse was noticeable with finger at end of fuel lines (original and replaced) and vacuum fluctuations were about the same magnitude ~5 mm inHg/~2.5 PSI. New pump is $75 at the dealer, which is less than the value of my time spent on this, BUT I...

Here's one reason why people hate motorcyclists

The douches were in force today on Lakeshore. Traffic was already bunged up before these guys came along. Why anyone would choose to ride a bike in stop-and-go traffic instead of getting out of the city and enjoying riding in the beautiful weather is beyond me. I had a hard time preventing...

    Your loooongest ride.

I bought my kids dirt bikes hoping they would one day want to ride street. They like dirt biking but very carefully - not a risky bone in their bodies. They have no interest in riding street. I wonder if there was a mixup at the hospital.

What did you do in your garage today..?

@Mad Mike - any special recommendations for 12V pumps? I studied current pump and don't see any markings for it besides "Mikuni". I know they're all pretty much the same. Tank is under seat. I installed a new filter from the JD dealer right before doing this work. Had another new OEM...

    Power distribution blocks

Received my Thunderbox this week. I bought the big one, just because I got tired of thinking about the likelihood of adding devices X, Y and Z. This thing is TINY. I know I could have done the equivalent for less, but this was a case of me picking something that was eezy-peezy. Whatever I...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Ah I see. I was focusing on the pump not being able to draw fuel from the line. I was thinking of doing something similar, spraying starter fluid into the throat and seeing if increased RPM produced enough pressure to get the pump to work. But if the starter isn't enough to provide adequate...

That is incredible. How do they keep people the tools from never returning? Is it all based on reputation, trust, or is there a deposit that gets made to secure the tools?

Also got to play with my new Optimate charger. That thing was able to recover 2 batteries I had laying around which my other smart chargers couldn't charge. If I had that a year ago, it would have already paid for itself.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Grr. I meant to check if the cap was venting properly. Thanks @GreyGhost, very generous of you. I'll keep that in mind! Yes, Mikuni vacuum operated fuel pump. I opened the pump and the diaphragm looked to be OK. What's the approximate vacuum one would expect to see? Could it be less than 1...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Snapped my right footpeg on my bike when I dropped it doing something stupid the other day, so moved the rear pillion footpeg forward. Darn thing seemed to require removing the brake lever just to gain access. Spent the whole weekend driving around to various places looking for a circlip that...

That seems very, very affordable and reasonable. I was pretty sure he quoted me a lot more but maybe he thought my bike was a V4 and not a V2.
