    New bmw roadster naked bike

Just saw the top view. The cylinder heads are, uh... prominent. On the plus side, you can save a few pounds by making the kickstand optional equipment. It's definitely distinctive. Still can't decide if I like it. I think BMW should go all-in on the ridiculousness and convince MotoAmerica to...

    New bmw roadster naked bike

Yeah, VStrom people and KLR people are definitely related. Cousins at the very least. Perhaps siblings. I considered getting a KLR before the VStrom. I've also previously tried to figure out a good definition of baller and didn't come up with anything satisfactory. Buying a specific bike...

    New bmw roadster naked bike

I think having a VStrom in your riding history is mandatory if you're not a baller. At least it's not a KLR :D

    New bmw roadster naked bike

The proportions on that thing are almost cartoonish (in a good way? I'm undecided) The windblast on my XSR900 above 120kph is a nice, self-limiting feature to keep me in check. It's easier to accidentally ride faster on my VStrom 650.

    Steel cutting.

This conversation got me thinking about various vise mounting systems. My garage is optimized to store the maximum possible number of motorcycles, so my workbench folds and is lag-bolted to the wall. Permanently mounting my vise to the workbench will put it at exactly shin height when the...

Would not get away with it today

Raw sewage was still being dumped into Halifax harbour until very recently. Sewage treatment plants didn't come online until 2008, and were completed in 2010: Harbour Solutions - Wikipedia

    Steel cutting.

That's probably more than half the reason I don't use it much. Loud, torquey and intimidating. For space reasons my vice lives on an overhead shelf, so getting it down just adds to the whole overhead of the process, but I have to deal with that for most of my other cutting tools anyway.

    Steel cutting.

I've got one, but it's never gotten much use and it's not the first thing I think of grabbing for some reason. Maybe I should load it up with a metal cutting wheel and store it closer to hand and see how that goes.

    Steel cutting.

Does anyone have a favorite reasonably compact cutting tool that they'd recommend? Not for something as big as the OP's hitch extension thing, but 1.5 inch angle iron, 1/8" or 1/4" flat steel or aluminum stock, threaded rod, etc. I've already bought into the Milwaukee M12 system and the M12...

    Buying gear from Europe

I haven't used eBay in quite a while, but I bought some used wheels from a seller in the States and tried the new "eBay International Shipping" option. Allegedly it's easier for both buyers and sellers. Buyers know up front at the time of purchase what the duties and taxes will be, and sellers...

    2024 Demo Days

The Triumph website has a 'request a test ride' form that basically just lists every dealer in Canada. My wife is looking to buy and has called around to multiple Triumph dealers (including GP Bikes) and none is willing to do test rides. She's got her full M and is an experienced rider. Any of...

OPP air enforcement in Dufferin / Caledon

Did some some digging, but the details are a bit vague: Aerial Speed Enforcement Upgrades I also stumbled across the official list of every speed camera in Ontario (except for Ottawa, which is on a linked page) and whether they're currently active: Automated Speed Enforcement - Certificate of...

    4 day work week?

For some type of knowledge workers, the amount of time spent with your butt in an office chair and exactly when you spend it is not strongly correlated with productive output. Inspiration and productivity rarely comes from an hour of work sandwiched between two pointless status meetings, but it...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Got the track bike put back together. The fairing repairs and paint came out better than I wanted, because every time I make the fairings too nice I crash the damn thing. It'll be covered in bugs soon enough, but maybe I'll go rub a handful of gravel on it first.

Selling bike - should I replace the tire?

You'll get at least $1000 below market value if you sell to a dealer. I've done it before, just to avoid dealing with the public.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Your bike is too clean. I keep mine a little bit dirty so that fluid leaks show up better in the dust :p

What did you do in your garage today..?

I fiberglassed up some damage in my track fairings last fall and then put everything away for the winter, intending to finish them when things got warm in the spring. Of course I procrastinated on that, so now I'm rushing to get things ready. Trying my hand at Bondo for the first time:
