    Running.. ugghh

10k is not about speed, it's about aerobic capacity. You would probably benefit more from consistent volume with threshold/tempo mixed in. If you are already doing decent and consistent volume, go ahead and sprinkle in some intervals/speedwork.

    Running.. ugghh

I would not bother with carrying water unless it's extremely hot or you are going to be out for a long time. Start the run slow and build into it if you feel like you have extra energy. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience rather than go out too fast and hang on for dear life or stop...

    Running.. ugghh

Running was starting to come around (was up to 40-50k / week), until I twisted an ankle playing soccer with my son few weeks back. Really frustrating waiting for it to heal. I think I re-injured it about three times thinking it's good to go (I guess intelligence doesn't automatically increase...

    Running.. ugghh

Low volume/high intensity works for some. The problem is that intensity is what gets us old geezers injured (I'm in my 40s). My favorite workout leading up to a half (maybe 3 weeks out) was 3x5k at goal pace with a few min rest (2-3). I hated it every time, but it was a nice reality check to...

    Running.. ugghh

For me, I found that there was no substitute for volume with comparatively small amount of intensity thrown in. I targeted half marathons and shorter. I could never do long runs that would be 40% of my weekly volume either unless taking the day after completely off. I usually kept it around 25%

    Running.. ugghh

I'll second what someone already mentioned. Be careful with the weekly increases, 20% week to week is a lot. 6 runs per week might be a lot with the other disciplines. Basically listen to your body. Also, if you are targeting 2:30 half, I would not bother with any speedwork. Maybe a tempo...

    Running.. ugghh

I think I stumbled onto Barry P method about 10 years ago along with Daniels Running formula. It really opened my eyes to the fact that you can't just go hard all the time when running. Running is not cycling, it's an impact sport.

    Running.. ugghh

Any of the couch to 5/10k plans will probably do. The objective is endurance for 5/10k. Don't bother with intervals/speed work, especially at the beginning (it's a recipe for getting injured). I liked the 1:2:3 method to start described here, more info here. At the start all easy running. I...

    Kids Sporting Activities

I had a similar experience, then we signed them up for a skating class (child with adult with city of Mississauga at Meadowvale 4 Rinks). Both adult and child on skates, key was not trying to hold them up as they will just put all their weight on you. Hold them by one hand as if you're holding...

    3d printed parts & stuff

I can't stand the web version either. You can use Sketchup 8 instead. It's free and still floating on the web. It may not have the latest features, but does what I need. Got mine from here: SketchUp | Jays Custom Creations

    Running.. ugghh

-Breathe through your nose as much as possible if the air is really cold, that may mean you have to slow down (I usually try to breathe through both as I find it difficult to breathe just through the nose unless going really slow) -Use a baclava or similar, basically anything that covers your...

    Car Recommendation for My Daughter

I've had the same experience with the mazda 3 (rear upper mounts and shocks). The same goes for the mazda 5, same mounts and they break just as often, $20 part and an hour to change but annoying when it happens.
